What's the vibe you're after? I don't know Perth so well so take my recommendations with a grain of salt
The beer corner room in Petition is outstanding in terms of a lovely old building and very interesting craft beer on tap, but it's pricey and not exactly your lively loud music party venue
The Royal just across the road from the train station is a nice renovation and good basic pub.
Print Hall is cool and had a rooftop that should be open on a stinking Perth night.
That's all I got as I don't venture out of Freo much
With the fellas that I'll be with I would say the vibe will be 'let's get as drunk as 10 men and behave like we think we're 21 again'
And suffer the consequences of the 3 hour drive home and being hungover and middle aged the next day.

Lol, ignore all of my prior recommendations

Righto if you were a group of 39 year old blokes from the country and were heading to the big smoke for a night out with the boys this weekend where would be your choice of watering holes in the city?
Would prefer not to feel like we're ancient, but also not be stuck being in full old man dad mode all night.
FWIW pretty sure last time we were all in full party mode in the city our first choice watering hole was The Shed and Green Mitzi's were our weapon of choice  that's how long it's been...
Delta Hotel? Lol. It is a bucks though 😂

Northbridge will be good for later on in the night - the City itself tends to die at around 12. If you want good cocktails get the Bobby Long Sour from Alabama Song, plus they always have a honkeytonk band playing Johnny Cash

Mechanics Institute (rooftop bar) and PICA Bar are close to each other in Northbridge. Even just the Northbridge Brewing Co if it's 10 blokes on a bucks drinking hard and being loud. Went there myself for my bucks. I think.... ;)

And another vote from me for Print Hall too.

Alabama Song bar till about 11pm, then finish it off at Universal Bar.

The Mustang is your place

Queens in Mt. Lawley is still a pretty good pub I hear, mind you I haven’t been there for couple of years now since I don’t drink anymore

Here’s a story of two tweets…

Then today…

My initial reaction here is - we all know Sam MaClure is a w***er. We would not expect anything different from him.

But you know what - Richo is almost a bigger campaigner for letting him away with it! MaClure ranting about something he was never asked and given free reign to do so by useless softy Richo 🤬🤬🤬
AFL “journalism” eh

Yeah, rubbish journalism.

I happen to be of the opinion they should have traded pick 1, and do agree they won't turn things around rapidly. But keeping pick 1 is hardly a poor option.

What is wrong with what he said? I agree with him and have stated multiple times over the last few months that the Weags would be stupid to not trade out of pick 1 given where their list is at. The only thing he said that I don't agree with is that Harley didn't want to move here which has never been proven to be anything other than media speculation.

He started ranting about a thing that nobody accused him of. Nobody said he didn’t like Harley Reid.
How the convo should have played out is as follows:
Richo:
But Sam - you said that the eagles were definitely not going to take Harley Reid at pick 1. You said he didn’t want to go there. You blatantly stayed on a podcast 2 months ago that the Eagles would select Curtin at pick one and North should not trade with them and instead just take Reid with pick 2.
Do you now accept you were completely wrong about all that?

MaClure:
Yes, I hold my hands up and accept I was all wrong about that.

Hmm, not really. McClure has been getting demonised for nothing on the socials and he's responded to it. IMO he simply stated one of the strategies that the Eagles should employ (the best one).

It’s not as simple as that. Reid got hounded with abuse for a period after MaClure stated his nonsense that had no foundation whatsoever, to the point where he had to come out and state he was happy to go anywhere (which he was). The fact is MaClure is a very prominent AFL media figure (unfortunately) and so his comments and words have consequences.
The burden of proof is on MaClure when he makes an outlandish statement such as “they are not going to pick him. He doesn’t want to go there”.
Then when it eventuates it doesn’t turn out to be true, instead of admitting he was wrong MaClure starts talking about how he “doesn’t dislike Harley Reid”
No one ever said you did Sam. Way to miss the point.

He would be a great spindoctor for any politician that needs someone to create good strawman arguments.
