Yes I thought that at the beginning of the year too! But got to say losing to Geelong who aren’t the team they were at home is pretty underwhelming it must be said.

Geelong have developed a great game plan to overcome their slowness and age - I doubt they can sustain it for the entire season

Yeah they seem to slow as the game goes and leave the door open for fast finishing teams.

It all depends how they manage their team - there's still a lot of talent and some young guns like Dempsey.

So far, there are only two teams I dont think we can beat this year if they play their best, GWS and Port, MAYBE Carlton. Frankly, GWS feels a very very long way ahead of the rest of the competition and are going to be very hard to stop

He's ok, it's just they seem to have draft only for forwards and still have no one close to Tex's level. You cant do a rebuild and whiff as badly as they did (considering the players just after / around them) on McAsey, McHenry and Jones

Disagree, I don’t think they’ve shown that much more than last year and haven’t been as impressive as everyone is making out

King and NWM should be multiple AA players over the next decade.

Time to put my nuffie opinion hat on.

King is overrated on this board, he doesn't have the footy IQ or confidence to take his game to the next level imo. I also think NWM will request a trade back to SA after his contract ends in 2025.

Then guys like Phillipou, Wilson, Owens and Windhager will all be very good AFL players.

These guys look great so far but too early to tell how good they will be. I think they will make consistent final campaigns and finish between 5-8 but I don't see them being a top 4 side unless those players you mentioned above take it to the next level. I will say they are emerging at the right time though. Geelong, Pies, Dogs, Richmond are all dropping out of contention.

I reckon it’s only GWS and only if they’re at their best. We haven’t even seen our peak yet.

GWS to me seems leagues above the rest of the comp. Carlton imo are a lot worse than their record. They have a 1pt win vs Bri’s who we beat by 4 goals, and a 5pt win vs rich who were down 3 players. It’s GWS, Sydney and then the rest.

Maybe but I'm trying to go a bit off the end of last year as well. I dont think Carlton are firing but they have star power that is pretty special. I'm big on the last quarter of last year (and last week) being a good indication of where we are at now that Young is in the middle. That's a top 8 side if it turns up every week.

I'm feeling pretty big on my footy opinions at the moment after saying Adelaide were frauds for ages and Collingwood are a decent chance of falling. Imma stick with my opinion Sydney are very similar to last year.

Carlton are good enough to finish 4/5th this year. My crystal ball is that we will face them in a GF in a few years time.

I think they might. Look at their draw, they will be 5-0 without breaking a sweat. Then it gets hard, but they only have to break even and they will be in.

They had Duncan, Guthrie, Atkins, Bruhn, Bowes, Rohan missing tonight. They will start coming back. A few old guys, but still a decent chunk of talent.

They are in an awkward spot with a fair few in their 30's and a bit more time needed for youngsters to step up (eg Jhye Clark looks miles off it), but I wouldn't count them out.

Carlton end of last year is part of the reason I don’t rate them. They won most of their finals because their opposition couldn’t kick.

Ports defence is a huge question mark. They were exposed badly in the finals and I think it's more a coaching issue than anything Ratugolea or Zerk-Thatcher can fix.
