I always thought the dissent rule needed to add a warning as an option. At some point, the AFL are going to need to send a message to Harley to cut out the back chat to the umpires.
The umpires have been giving him far too much leniency in this regard but it is surely starting to send a bad signal out there. I thought the umpires were supposed to be strong on players remonstrating decisions, yet it appears Harley does this many times a game, every week with no consequence.
I am sure the same conduct would not be tolerated by a first season Freo player.
Then an umpire can choose to give a warning first and leave it at that or if the player continues they can give a 50m.
If the ump feels the language and body language is so strong they can still opt for straight to a 50m.
