Collingwood's first round pick is at 25 and that is with another player as well so I think they would be getting him at pretty good value considering his season in the WAFL this year.
Krakouer will be 28 at the start of next season, and since Collingwood are still in their premiership window, he'd be a good get for them, plus the project ruckman (John Ceglar) they get as part of the deal would be backup now that Fraser is pretty much gone. don't know why GC want another first round pick though? unless there were no other offers for Kraks, and most likely GC wouldn't want him as their new poster boy alongside Ablett, Hunt, etc.

Wallace they are talking about, not sure your opinion will change much anyways. :D
walls & wallace are as bad as each other lol

out of krack & bling i know which i would prefer ............ bling by a mile

bmw v hyundai really

but my comments on the best possition for tambling is the mcleod role
perfect fit for bling.

I thought it was the opposite, tht he didn't rate this draft

given that we havent traded in recent years as we have preferred to stockpile young talent, maybe they may be willing to pay overs

No, we rate this draft very highly and it's a shame (for us and many other clubs) that the Gold Coast get first hands on it since otherwise we'd be picking up some serious quality.

Basically what it will provide is an outstanding top 3 who are a class above the rest, but the rest of the first round will be very tight in quality.

Moreover, the draft has a bit more depth, meaning players picked up around 30 will be first round material.

No, despite the compromised nature of this draft, I believe Rendell still rates the talent pool rather highly, especially its complement of talls, which unfortunately(or fortunately whichever way you look at it) we have little need of currently. I think we're trading due to the fact that we've finally got some space in the cap to work with and with so many retirements, we're probably a little light on in the experience department. If there was a draft to trade out of, it was probably last years in that it was already light on in talent before the AFL limited it to the 2/3's the usual draft pool size by changing the minimum age.

I'd be pretty sure this is the exact role we have planned for him, I think we'll just continue to use rotating midfielders such as Sloane, Thompson, Douglas, Vince and Dangerfield as our "smaller" crumbing forwards.

Gold Coast are unlikely to just use their first rounders and exit the draft at that point, they'll probably be taking players right down into the 4th or 5th round. If this is so, surely it would be better to have an extra 1st rounder, rather than having to use that final 4th or 5th rounder?

Don't think this article has been posted but it basically implies that Tambling is ours.

I took particular interest in Nixon's comment that Tambling wants to go to a well coached team, he is obviously keen to get the best out of himself

there is no doubt that Geelong has been one of the best drilled sides in recent years however there must be some doubts re Geelong in Tambling's mind given the the Cats coaching vacancy

I definitely fitered MR's comments differently

obviously the top 5 are very good however in terms of what we can get for our pick Im agree that from pick 7 - 20 is tight in quality however the quality is not as high as in recent years

apparently the Jacobs deal is holding up the Tambling deal as Carlton now want the Bock compo pick

IMO Tambling is more important to our structure than Jacobs due to our lack of true outside midfielders

I say just do the Tambling deal and force that option of the table with Carlton

It should also be noted that media reports that Geelong were interested in Tambling were wrong. Geelong is not interested and has not been. So Hutchy's report of Geelong upping the ante etc are untrue.

May come cheaper than expected. I would think nothing will get done until Friday to see the dust settle from who else signs with the GC. A lot of trades could change dramatically depending on who goes to the GC as needs change and extra draft picks might be floating around.

If we could snare Tambling for the 2nd rounder then we are still very much in the hunt for the Walker/Jacobs combo.

I don't think we will be seeing a deal today from us just quietly, with the way it is all going unfortunatley.

Its a possibility but I would say unlikely! I think we will likely get Tambling deal ovwr the line tomorrow and work on Jacobs trade after that! I am not sure that 2 second round picks are equivelant of a 1st round pick!

I still think that we could trade pick 14 if another 1st roind pick is coming our way! Rendell said that top 6 picks are set in stone the from 7 to 18 you can throw a blanket over! It will greatly depend on what clubs value more in player's make up. With that in mind, i wouldn't be surprised if Rendell thinks he can get the same player at 18 as he would at 14.

Yeah I agree Stiffy, and if we swap 14 for 18 (and other picks perhaps) I have concerns.

If the draft goes exactly as Rendell rates it (as it did last year apparently) then the last of those top 18 he likes will probably be a tall or perhaps Lycett. Pick 14 should get us one of the mids that we crave - 18 - well maybe not?

Rendell has a few players in mind that should make it to 14, so chances are at least one of the players we want would make it to 18 as well. And yes, they'll be midfielders.

We won't take Lycett.

What is happening with Johnathon Griffin?

Has West Coast or the Dockers shown any interests or will it hinge on the Sam Jacobs deal?

Nothing mentioned so far. I'm thinking it's a fairly minor deal which will get knocked over once the higher priority deals are sorted out.

The AFC team are probably focused entirely on the Tambling/Walker/Jacobs trades and don't have time to do the Griffin trade right now.

So like a normal Thursday night match committee meeting then?:D

Apparently according to sen twitter feed - tigers interesting in jaenschy. thoughtS?

Won't happen nor should it happen.

Not overrating Jaensch so much as being aware of his abiliity and his performances at AFL level have, for the most part, been very encouraging. He's come on better than even our recruiters expected and that's with a troubled pre-season as well. He slowly regained fitness over the course of the season and his last half of the year showed.

We don't have enough midfielders with pace who can go forward and kick goals, nor kick them from outside 50. And he's a bit of a shit. Jaensch is exactly the kind of player we need, the fact he's a rookie is irrelevant.

If he's not upgraded I'll be stunned.

Not for Tambling - I'd rather keep Janesch. Hopefuly we plan to upgrade him - otherwise the promise of a regular list spot at Richmond vs rookie list spot at Adelaide may be very tempting for him.

What are they prepared to offer us for him?

I wouldn't. We currently have 5 senior list vacancies, 6 if Griffin finds a new home. We're looking like landing at least 2 (if not 3) of Jacobs, Tambling & Walker. We have to draft a minimum of 2 new players (noting that Henderson's upgrade counts as the 3rd). That doesn't leave a whole lot of room for upgrading rookies...

Good point about him wanting a senior list position, whereas he will probably be stuck on our rookie list in 2011. Not unlike Mumford's situation last year...

Jaensch + 2nd round pick for Tambling as a part of a deal that could allow us to land Walker with Bocks compensation pick ......hell do that deal any day of the week

Yes we are seriously overating Jaensch!!!!

He's just played his first bloody season!! Give the lad a go, has a lot of improving to do but I think it's crazy to even mention his name on the trade table! He is going to be a very good footballer for us and I look forward to watching him rip games apart.

It's very difficult to judge his worth, given that he's only been on our rookie list for 12 months and played just 11 games. He has 2 bags of 3 goals to his credit, so the indications are pretty good that he can play.

Given that Richmond appear happy with our Bock compensation pick, I think Jaensch + our 2nd is over-paying. Possibly Tambling + Richmond's 3rd for Jaensch + our 2nd, or just Tambling for Jaensch + our 3rd.
