I think it's a pretty open game. Easy to get swept up in the Blues hype, but Sydney have some decent form heading into the finals as well. Very little finals experience in the Blues team either.
Yer I'm tipping the Blues but would not be surprised in the least if the Swans got the chocolates.

Jay Clark and Jon Ralph both seem to think its straight to the tribunal for Maynard.
Confirmed!
Straight to the Tribunal.

“The Match Review Officer graded the incident as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact, drawing a minimum three-match ban and means Maynard's season could be over.”

The lawyers will get involved in the end.
Just refer it to tribunal is the best starting point.
Easy enough to class it as Careless (the shoulder bit) - Impact is High/Severe (Concussion)
That puts the sanction in the 2 weeks to 3+ matches (tribunal) area.

Exactly what you said has happened.

Would love nothing more than to watch Carlton lose by 15 goals tonight.

He will get off before the Prelim via the Patrick Cripps secret herbs and spices defence.

As it should be - anything contentious is not the MRO's job. Was always gunna end up there anyway.

Just watch the hit on Brayshaw for the first time - looks to me like a totally deliberate choice to turn the shoulder and aim at the player ... though I doubt it gets graded as high deliberate etc...

Will be interesting if that's considered a bump. He left the ground attempting a spoil, but once he's turned, anticipating contact, is that a bump or is it protecting himself.

I have zero idea how this will play out. I'm probably leaning towards no suspension. However, I am the kiss of death.

Interesting that it sounds like the MRO (Christian) was happy to let it slide, until the AFL overruled and sent it off to the tribunal. Who did the MRO play ~130 odd games for?

Not saying there was any bias, but if there is one thing we know about the AFL, it’s that it’s all about its “image”. It may not have been the best look “optics wise”, to give the all clear on such a contentious call from a former player of the club.

FWIW, I think the right call was made. Let an independent panel decide and I still reckon he’ll get off anyway.
