With what the Eagles, Dockers and Suns gave up for their trade ins I'm expecting the Cats to have to give up a motza to get Bailey Smith in... at his best every bit as good if not better than the likes of Liam Baker, John Noble, Shai Bolton and Dan Rioli.

#PonyUp

IMO Smith is a better footballer than all of them. But he's out of contract Jason, big difference.

Good grief, I hope we never have to deal with the Bulldogs and Sam Power ever again.

Boy Essendon's draft hand is rather shit for a shit team that finished in a shit position and has a shit list.
It will be so funny if no club bids on Kako before pick 9 given they got rid of it so they didn’t lose it if a bid did come. God I hope it happens.

Toby has a number of issues, and got off very lightly for the most serious of them about a decade ago (quotes from a 2019 article):

A court fine with a guilty plea and a 5 match AFL ban.

I'm not sure what he is being fined for here (or fined for not stopping) - but sick of the suggestion of a 'toby tax.'

Bad person, bad behaviour on the field repeatedly that he often avoided punishment for (eye gouging against the dogs in 2019 finals a good example, got no punishment and then went and did it again in the semi final against us!). Great footballer and a worthy AA captain though!

They should have tripled the penalty due to him being at Zagames

Making fun of rape, sex with underaged girls and 9/11? Those GWS boys are a laugh.
Put like that you make it sound like The Footy Show with Sam Newman.

The AFL seems to want to highlight this GWS business as a way of publicising what they perceive their brand to be or should be. Apart from what their business is ,which is football.

Because no one would probably know about it otherwise.

I dunno. It's starting to look like the McCarthy era to me. Same principles ,same self righteous mock investigations and media trials.

Agree. AFL staff will be hoping that there are no skeletons in the closet.

How many times today has he used the words woke and snowflake, I wonder.

Overstep? Over reach?

Reenacting rape? Underage minors? Slavery? Acts of terrorism?

Sorry, in no way are these penalties unjustified.

We have a women's competition. That alone is cause enough to throw the book at these guys. Add in the battles with vilification and players being accused of similar acts and incidents over recent years and this is just stupid, tasteless and brainless.

I don't care if it was behind closed doors - it wasn't, there were staff there and CCTV video footage taken - there is a line you don't cross. Plenty of public figures are held to account for private acts and this is no different.

Simulated rape and making light of underage girls is about as derogatory and demeaning as you can get - privately and publicly. It shows how far we have to go to rid ourselves of double standards and disrespect. I cannot imagine the disgust the women's GWS team must feel.

They're young, they're inexperienced, they're overpaid, they're rarely told no. That's the life of an AFL player. That's why it was crucial the AFL did what they did... they had no choice.

And I would be just as pissed and disappointed if it was our boys.
