North at $2.16 to beat West Coast

I wouldn't be tempted at $2.50. Too many variables and unknowns. That and we aren't yet nearly as good as some here seem to think.

We need and should beat WCE at the moment. If we are going to make the 8.

If you don't believe that then follow Richmond.

"If you don't agree with me then follow Richmond", is the single biggest moronic statement on the world wide web.

It should be an automatic cardable offence for deliberately dumbing down the forum.

We are going in to this match with 5 of our best starting 22 out of the side and probably 13 players with 50 or less games experience.

I expect us to win because we have a better spread of younger talent coming up against a similiar side, but by no means are we certanties.

The TEFtacle has spoken!:D

By the way, now $2.27 in WA.

The aforementioned statement annoys me scotty. It intimates that a member which has an honest opinion that in any way casts reservations over some aspect of the side, must be some kind of traitor. This is of course, completely out of touch with reality.

The only purpose it serves is to dumb down the standard of conversation on the board, not to mention that it is a low act.

Spurs could be even joking for all I know, but someone would want to have a smile on their face if they stated that to me in public.

Yeah maybe not Richmond but I am sick and tired of people stating "we aren't yet nearly as good as some here seem to think."

As I said if we can't beat WCE then we are behind the 8ball straight away. I say we will win.

PS. I don't think you are in a position to say it is a cardable offence when you have a long list of them.

Steer clear of betting against the Eagles 1st up at Subi. West Coast have never lost a Round 1 home game. 11-0. That said, as fellow non-Collingwood supporters, I'd like to wish your club good luck this year.

Here's another interesting fact. If you had of said the following statement 7 days before RD 1 2010, it would've been true too, 'West Coast Eagles have never finished in last place on the AFL ladder.'

Devil Fish is correct, I wouldnt be "betting the house" on North to beat us over here. We arent great, thats correct, but your record over here hasn't been anything to write home about, even against the men who wear purple. I honestly see North and us around about the same playing level, we both need some draft picks to fire ....
Dont think the game will be a flogging either, I would be more jumping on the "under 15.5 point win for either team."

id like to think our "playing level" is a lot higher then the reigning wooden spooners considering we beat them twice last year and missed the 8 on percentage

Exactly right. A winning attitude. If we dont drop this underdog crap and have a winning mentality then we are going nowhere.

Last year's ladder suggests a reasonable gulf between the teams!
That said, I expect a very close match all things considered.
I think the odds are a little lopsided though, reckon its an even-money bet.

On this front I agree with Teffy. You struggle a bit.

Would love to see us win but I think it is no certainty. Certainly not worth my hard-earned, even at $2.50.

I guess I am not as pessimistic as you and expect us to obviously be better than where you think we sit. Sorry but I don't want to think "we aren't yet nearly as good as some here seem to think.". I view us a bit more positively.

Have a look at your injury list and then look at ours.

Do you bet money on a horse based on what it did 6 months ago?

I just hope your players are as over confident as some posters on here.

Have a look at your playing list and then look at ours. Forgive us for having a belief in our side.
And yes, you would bet on a horse based on what it did six months ago, when it is Black Caviar up against Beetlebomb. :)

The injury list is quite good... from the round 21 side we'll lose Bastinac, Greenwood and McIntosh

but gain - Goldstein (totally forgot he didn't play, makes me feel more confident), Ziebell, Anthony, Lindsay Thomas and i'm assuming Leigh Adams won't be knocked unconscious in the first quarter...

should be prime to beat you again

And who have the Eagles got back in comparison? No one any good obviously.

Norths and Freo have a long injury list the Eagles have minor niggles in comparison, if you don't think this matters at the start of the season you don't know your history very well, its the major reason why teams drop out of the eight.

Like I said I just hope your club and players are as cockie as you are.;)

You hope, but you'd be wrong.

Dont let the media beat up regarding our injuries fool you. We aint that bad off. We have four of our best 22 unavailable for selection in McIntosh, Petrie, Bastinac and Greenwood, we have recruited 2 guys, Richardson and Atley, that can start in the 22 and have Ziebell and Anthony back who missed the second half of last year. Our only area of real concern is ruck. I'm pretty confident of Norths chances against you guys, mainly because I rate our midfield as more potent then the Eagles midfield.

So Grima will play very much underdone as will Cunington with a 36 degree day forecaste.

More than happy for underdone players to get selected by Norths.

Its a 50 / 50 game and will be a close one IMO.
