Every girl laid at least 2 tackles today, but it started in the engine room, Garner, Rennie, Mia King and Bruton just didn't let the Dees mids off the hook all game.

If you told me that Randall and Lulu only had 3 and 2 tackles respectively, I would have called you a liar.

Premiership favourites!

First time since 1999 Grand Final week I reckon.

Kearney should get an AA spot purely for some of the staredowns she delivered yesterday
My favourite was the free for being the last one pushed over in a push and shove she started.

Will be bitterly disappointed if this girl isn't the All-Australian fullback this year, she has been phenomenal.

Surprised to hear anyone shitting on Tess Craven. Thought she was really, really important and a large part of why were able able to get on top early. Those spoils on the wing denied Melbourne their usual easy running F50 entries and left them rattled. Contributed well around the ground too.

100% agree with this.

I was at the game and it was impressive to see her back herself and be proactive and get in a position to spoil an attack, when it looked like Melbourne were out.

It reminded me of Sammy wright vs Essendon in the Elimination final.

Also some her work on the HF line was really good.

I also thought Shierlaw played a very important role, forward and back.

is it unrealistic to think Garner, Riddell, Kearney, Randall and Ferguson could/should all be in the side? Garner is an obvious one but Riddell is just as deserving. Randall is just obviously one of the best key forwards in the league, only became clearer after yesterday, and I think they'll sneak Kearney in on the bench just to keep her perfect attendance.

Just getting back home from the game..
Had a few frothies after the game and came the conclusion that our relentless pressure was the main reason for our win. Absolutely amazing.
The pressure was key. The way we press up and leave our (slow) key defenders expsoed 1 on 1 will only work against the top sides with relentless pressure further down the field.

I thought Craven did well.

I feel like there was a team wide directive of compete at almost all costs and as such there was a lot of breaking it up in the air and getting a hand in so that possession for the opposition was not easy.

Getting a hand in and forcing a scramble even when outnumbered to make transition disjointed becomes incredibly important to allow numbers back.

The victory was bloody impressive. It was a showing of a cohesive team balanced between defensive effort and attacking presence.

It is exactly what you want in a finals game.

Yesterday, was the best football experience I've witnessed in a very long time. Leaving aside the vandalism inflicted on the venue by presumably the Carlton Football Club, to be there and see the girls turn on a display like that was just wonderful.

There were no passengers whatsoever and if the girls can maintain that sort of form and pressure, then maybe, just maybe, we have ahead of us our best moment since 1999.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves and most importantly lets hope the girls, have enjoyed last night and revelled in the experience of finally dropping one of those monkeys off their backs, and now are focussing solely on the game in a fortnight against either Adelaide or the Gold Coast.

And when I say no passengers, having read through all of the comment both just before, during and after the game, criticisms of Craven and Gatt are completely wrong. Tess did some terrific work, amongst other things, effecting some crucial spoils that stopped the godees from advancing into attack. I just thought Taylah was good all game long and not sure where there is any need for criticism.

In my opinion, our best player was Taylah Randall. Jassy was very good as usual but I thought Taylah was more influential. Three out of the seven goals is a wonderful contribution. She terrorised the godees defence with her toughness and physicality at the ball. Libby Birch has had bragging rights over Emma Kearney for far too long because of all the godees wins against us. So, good to see her come off very much second best.

The highlight for me though was the third quarter, surely close to the best football the girls have ever played.
