Yes, suggest it went well. The AFl are considering giving us a PP after our first pick. But then realised the band 1 compo has pushed that back. They don't want us to suffer.
So I believe we will end up with picks 2 ( ours) 3 ( Magoo compo) 4 ( PP) and 10 ( PP) cause our PP was pushed back.

I mean then we start on the pick we got for Jason Horne Fabian, the way this is playing out it could be pushed back to 103.

Crikey why should we suffer because of handouts, is my blardy question !!
I'm onboard with them Blews and Hawfs fans who are Adam Ant that others shouldn't suffer because of handouts.
I concur - *en !!
They should not be assuming anything about a compensation pick as nothing has been said yet ....;)

Maybe direct your comments to somebody who has actually said something negative about Clarkson? Just a thought.

You guys have already recieved 2 PP, a top 10 NGA and a top 10 F/S. Not sure how many more picks you think you need, probably about a dozen on current form.

North have improved since last year. The two priority picks are doing their job. Not sure why they need another bout.

They did lose 20 straight and were badly beaten most weeks. But they also engineered the situation they are in with a view to AFL assistance.

Tough call for Dillon and co.

A 2nd & 3rd round pick that we had to trade. The NGA & F/S we had to pay for with top 10 picks, not the bunch of junk picks used to nab Daicos, JUH, etc. Don't know how this compares to GC getting pick 1, pick 11, free access to NGA players.

it does not compare to gold coast because your club has faced nowhere near the same challenges that gold coast has

you have already received the most priority assistance out of any club other than gold coast under the current draft assistance regime

the afl should seriously be considering your viability in the league if you need further assistance this year

You can whinge and complain till the cows come home, but North will get pick 3 for Ben McKay and will be able to pre list Ryley Sanders, it's fair accompli.

thank you for engaging with the substance of my post in your increasingly obsessive need to defend the north melbourne football club :thumbsu:

You didn't have to pay either one with top 10 picks. You chose to use your first rounder on mcdonald and you got Thomas with low picks after trading your first rounder to PA.

You shouldn't compare yourself to GC though. They are building the game in a hostile environment. Go to Canberra if you want the GC package.

Your list has well over a dozen first rounders, including many top 5 picks. There are clubs who are rebuilding who last got a top 5 pick when John Howard was PM.

But that won't stop North begging for ever more.

I am not defending anyone.

Just starting what will happen.

Given all the handouts and COLA Brisbane have had over the years, Brions fans should be the last to be complaining about hand outs and assistance from the AFL

Brisbane are building the game in a rugby state. And all they ever got was pick 19 when every one of their first and second round players under 21 were stolen in the same trade period.

You can't compare them to North, but North has already recieved more priority picks than Brisbane has. If anyone has a right to complain it is Brisbane.

Bringing up COLA from a decade ago says how much strength your argument has though.

Shouldn't the rules be the same for all teams regardless of where they are located?

North have never gotten a priority pick in the past, anyone who thinks those crap picks they were forced to trade for Logue and Tucker is a nuffie..

Pick 3 for Ben McKay is a compo pick not a PP and Ryley Sanders being eligible to be pre listed by North is fair enough given how many years and games North have done promoting the game in Hobart over the years..

Hawk fans gonna Salt cause their first round pick this year is being bumped down a spot this year due to McKay F/A compo

How devastating for those poor battlers who haven't had any on field success in decades ? 😢

if someone who is consistently wrong about everything says that's what will happen who am i to disagree

19 and 37 is more than Brisbane got.

Pre listing a top 10 player is absolutely a PP and no club has ever gotten such a thing before.

Mckay will be by far the worst player to ever get band 1. Maybe he gets a contract that warrants it, maybe he doesn't. The fact is NM will recieve the greatest windfall in free agency history if you contrast ability vs reward.

NM are paid to play games in Hobart, just like my club are in Launie. It is not comparable to actually going to Canberra and growing the game.

None of these points are persuasive. North melbourne engineered this situation. They had the a previous number 2 in the coleman key forward and chucked him to try to get priority picks, and now they are getting them.

Other clubs will be watching closely. Don't think we don't realise why you are making this argument. For the first time in recent memory Carlton don't need top 5 picks, so seeing a club that is sure to just waste them strengthens your club comparatively.

No. They shouldn't. Rules in non football states have always been different, for important reasons. Another thread is the place for that though. If you want northern rules (like academies and extra support) move to Canberra.

Did North ever ask for an academy?

Only a couple of weeks away from when we're likely to find out what draft assistance NMFC is eligible for this year.

Personally, I'm increasingly of the opinion that it'll just be the right to pre-list Ryley Sanders. I don't think the AFL will give us any actual picks.

Pre-list? Haha, that’s funny. You’ll be forced to match picks.

Cool. AFL will likely give us an extra pick that we can use to do that, if that's to be the case.

Seems overly complicated, but that's fine.

Yah, being given a top 5 player for free is slightly different to being given a start of second round PP which forces you to use 16 and 20(?) to match if the bid comes in then.
