Until Clarko takes us to flag after flag. Then you'll all be sooking hard again.

Not Clarko. Maybe his successor if he lays some good foundations.

Who will be the Goodwin to Roos I wonder.

Saints/North finals comparison was interesting for the last decade.

Where did this decade talk come from?

The new assistance policy came in when they wanted to make GC a finals teams because rugby was doing well there and they used a period of 3-4 years and no recent finals as the benchmark.

I am all for getting rid of assistance but it is hypocritical to be all for GC assistance for two years running then get your nose out of join to a severely watered down version for us.

If any of these hypocrites were coaching North, they would have been there cup in hand.

Scott is the last arseh*le I want to hear about handouts, they got pick 7 from GC for getting a top 10 pick of a few years ago thanks to the tsunami of handouts to the GC.

Scotty was the most direct he's ever been on an AFL issue with the North compensation. Threw proper grenades.

Old uncle Ross was doing his best, might have hit up the red fairly heavily before strutting into the fox studio.

Scott is usually a lot more diplomatic on 360.

I know your celebrating your pyrrhic victory tonight, but it would be good if you responded to this at some point in time, when your decided to try and get one up on me.
Sorry was too busy popping the champagne bottles.
He was asked for his thoughts on the North Melbourne request for priority assistance. His reply was along the lines of he won't discuss specific issues of other clubs, however he felt some assistance was justified and that if Hawthorn finished bottom 2 in 4 consecutive years they would certainly be asking for priority assistance.

This is just straight up horse s**t and you know it. Any club that finds itself in the same position as north over the last few years would 100% be hitting the afl up.

It’s only end of first round picks; I don’t think it too bad tbh.
3 of them?

they'll have 19 top 20 picks on the list
I can't imagine St Kilda shamelessly begging in the way North have over the last three* years.

They will do it the right way and the hard way. North would never.
well we didn't, we traded and rafted and churned the list tirelessly in the last 10 years, 9 players from the 2020 finals played in the 2023 final, routinely criticized for the path we took.

unlike another team that just bitched and moaned about assistance

Wait, are you saying North don't need the assistance because you have a good coach?
Haven't you heard?

They have the best youth and best coach.

The AFL also 'owes' them PP's because other clubs got them under a completely different system 20 years ago, when they were given under a set criteria - you didn't ask for them then.

And you're about to add 5 more in this off-season alone.

What's your point exactly?
It's a completely meaningless number.

Of these top 20 talents the consistent message from oppo supporters are about how a lot of these North players are no good (Stevo, Phillips, McDonald, Corr etc.) but when it comes to an argument about list talent we are all of a sudden stacked with "top 20" talent.

So North are so terrible they need hand outs from the AFL to compensate for the handouts other clubs received over a decade ago, yet they don't need handouts because they're such a well organised club from the top to bottom.......

Ross Lyon and Chris Scott absolutely trashing the AFL, North and Clarkson on AFL 360.

Just wait when every club will beat the * out of the new North Melbourne "plastics" every single week. You brought this on yourself. :p

I don’t think he really trashed Hawthorn I think his point was that if used properly a high draft hand over a couple of years can form the basis of a dynasty team - he did call Clarko a genius - I thought he was getting at the fact that a handful of good picks at one side can shape the comp so just handing a whole fist of them to a club in one hit depending on how they use it, is potentially too much

Nope.

Once I stop posting in this thread, I'll forget it until I come back to laugh at it some more.
You gotta be truthful with yourself roby.
It’s an amazing amount of energy spent on North, you’ve shown so much emotion, you just have to be honest, you’ll be back in any thread related to us.

That's the argument in a nutshell.

You are stacked. You'll have the third most top 20 pick players in the league on your list.

So if it isn't access to talent that's the problem, clearly either your development completely blows, or your list management team is an utter shambles.

It basically proves that drafts picks aren't the issue with North.

Scott began his career at a great team - but one from whom the actual league had just removed the best player potentially of this century.
Pretty sure in the overall scheme of things, the Suns got out of their various exchanges with Geelong slightly ahead.
