Look your probably right, I think the AFL from my read (excuse the pun) don’t want to see another pick one leaving early after JHF that’s all.

I guess it detracts from the whole draft night promotion with the hype of the player being the club saviour and all.

Saying that I fear after one year he will be off to Collingwood or Essendon, can’t imagine he will love 4.40pm on a Sunday!
Lol,

North gets 3 picks in the 20s and some bloke fires up a troll account saying AFL are scared of a JHF scenario and have arranged a trade of pick 1 to North for some picks in the 29s

I don't know who you're trying to troll here, WCE supporters or North ones..

AFL give North a decent priority package, while ignoring WC.
Reckon there might have been a little deal behind closed doors on this. We'll give you these picks, but you have to trade at least one of the 1st rounders and a few other picks or players to WC for pick 1 (paying overs).

That way, the AFL & WC don't have to worry about Harley publicly knocking back going to WA (something he's probably already told them) and it also gives WC a bit of a package in a round about way.

Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Unlikely i think this package to North is given "as is"

It’s like you’ve got the money to buy a Honda but mum and dad will chip in the rest to make sure you get a Harley.
Surely you should learn to ride your Honda before you ride a Harley.

Everybody saves face at the expense of competition integrity. As far as MO goes it sounds pretty spot on.

You do know all the latest 'mail' points to WCE picking Reid and moving's no issue, right?

A few trolls on here saying the opposite doesn't mean anything.

The club I support doesn’t matter.

Once you get over that you will be less emotional and more willing to see the facts.

I am happy for you and your shiny new toys. But you’ll be back here doing the same dance in 12 months time.
No we won't.

Even if we are crap on what planet will the AFL even look at another application from us?

Hawks may want to upgrade their pick and get Harley.

West Coast can just get the best deal.

3 actually for the Saints but cool story bro
So, 5 less?

Remind me why a club that's played 2x prelims in the last decade now has begged for handouts 3 years in a row, while a club that's been mired mid-table for over a decade gets nothing?

Oh, that's right. One club 'engineered' their fall down the ladder.

Or they could just take the kid that has been the consensus pick one for like 12 months.

I will be astounded if WC trade pick 1 at all.

Whatever you reckon tankeurnsss.

I'm not the one who came into this thread making up all sorts of bullshit and am now pretending all i did was predict we'd ask for assistance.

Are we going to have a few weeks of North supporters getting themselves in a twist believing the AFL has engineered a trade for Harley Reid again?

I'd be filthy if I was the AFL, handing out picks to North like candy because they 'lack talent', only to spend it all acquiring one player.

Our fall down the ladder happened before we delisted any of the players that people on here keep whinging about us delisting. We finished second last in 2020 and then cut the list cos it couldn't perform when it mattered. And probably cos a bunch of those players made their situation untenable during the hub.

We didn't cut our list and then bottom out. WE bottomed out then cut the list.

If anything doing that probably sped up our climb out of the shit by a season or two.

West coast will probably be down a similar amount of time. I don't expect them to ask for handouts, rather I expect them to draft appropriately and make astute trades, as per how the system is designed.

I know you weren't one gunning for picks btw, so it's not a dig at you.

You reckon the AFL handed out those picks next year (and this year) for us not to trade?

Yes but it's not exactly attractive from a WCE point of view.

They can't be 'scared' of Reid's supposed go home factor by giving North picks to trade to WCE in a draft bereft of high-end WA talent.

WCE would just say no and take their chances.

Trading with other clubs? That's a different story

Don't forget, Dillon was very firm earlier in the year that WCE don't qualify for assistance.

Hopefully our 3 “first rounders” turn into a priority pick result like Gold Coast Noah Anderson

The swap is a done deal I think, just hoping it won’t cost us 14. If it does it better be worth it.
WCE not willing to walk away from the draft without Curtain as per my mail.

Of course that COULD happen, but I was clearly alluding (not even alluding, as I flat out said it) to a potential back room deal done between the AFL, North and WC.
In that scenario, however unlikely, all parties would be in agreeance.
