North to go winless in 2024?

Like it or not they're stuck with Clarko on a massive contract.

He's coaching a shit heap of a list at the moment but has the runs on the board that he can develop talent the right way.

It's going to take time unfortunately. In the mean time they need to nail their draft picks

On track to have a worse year than Essendon's 2016 top up team

Essendon 3 wins at 61%
North 0 wins at 55.9% (so far)
It's just a snapshot but Essendon's side in round 11 that year was an average of a year older and almost half a season more experienced than North Melbourne's side on the weekend.

Our performance this year shouldn't be a surprise.

except it absolutely is. no north supporter was predicting this. the vast majority were predicting improvement.

can't move the goalposts now.

North should be relocated. They aren’t viable.

Move them to Canberra - add Gold to their colours and be done with it.
Play 2 or 3 “home” games at Marvel.

Then Team 20 can be one of Newcastle, WA3 or Sunshine Coast.

Financially North are stable though.

One of the few clubs who are 100% debt free, they own their own training facilities and look like going through a renovation on them soon.

Issues are with the football department and their development program, this doesn't change even if they relocate.

If North gets a few wins and sell hope their fans will come, this will offset the loss of the Tasmanian money.

The problem will be permanent fan loss if they go through another 3-5 years of failure without hope.

I thought they looked good against Essendon apart from the 3rd quarter. Had high hopes against Port but it was one of those 1 step forward 2 steps back things. As the group goes through they will get better and better at running out a full game, unfortunately when a team is developing it's the last thing to click... I think at some point this year they'll put it together and grab a win though.

To answer the thread title - no, they will win at least 1 game (and probably 2-3). As bad as they look now, I've seen this question asked time and time and time again over the years. St Kilda of the late 80's, Sydney in the early 90's, Fitzroy in the mid 90's, Collingwood late 90's, Freo early 00's, Carlton in the mid 2000's (and again in the 2010's), Richmond in the late 00's, Melbourne through the 10's, early GC and GWS, Port just prior, Essendon top ups, etc, etc, etc.

Every team is the "worst since Fitzroy", "worst ever" and the predictions always come thick and fast that they won't win a game. For those, like myself, that argue, the response is always "well who will they beat" with a list of (obviously superior) opponents provided. Every single time the scenario plays out the same. They'll always snare at least 1 win (usually multiple). Predicitng against whom is always impossible as they'll always be beating a team they are not expected to, who are having a slightly off day or are taking them too lightly. The competition remains even enough that 10% off your best (on a day that North is fully switched on) will result in an unexpected loss to them.

The other 2 teams that were also expected to struggle (Hawks and WC) are doing a lot better than expected.

So, the focus is on North. They will win a game or two.

Just ignore the vultures who would like to see your club moved to Canberra/Darwin/Newcastle/Broken Hill etc. It ain't gonna happen.

A lot of "experts" said they couldn't see West Coast winning a game this year.

Yeh north are bad, but they'll likely get a win when no one expects it. They just need to have a good day on the same week someone else is off

Since 1990 these are arguably (and factually) the worst sides in a season, with 1 win a piece. Note 1 of the sides has now folded and 1 of the sides was in their 2nd year at the time.

Currently North’s % is better than Fitzroy and GWS so a win will get them above them... but where will they place? Can Richmond win a second game to avoid joining this group too?

1993 - Sydney 1 win 63.32%
1996 - Fitzroy 1 win 49.47%
2013 - GWS 1 win 50.97%
