Apparently the "so called king hit" did not affect him too much, as he continued playing, useing his kicking skills to effect! Think most of your comments may be a bit hysterical!

A very close game of footy at the creek on Saturday. we had a slow 1st half and were down by 5 goals @ half time. Super must have had a few words of wisdom as the boys came out and had a 6 goal 3rd quarter to put us back into the game.
The last quarter was a very tight battle with the boys kicking the last goal to win the game.

Well we have played the top four and I still think Lower are the team to beat.
Should be interesting at the Bloods on Saturday.

G'Day Sarge :D

yeah he did and it wasn't a great thing to do, however, was very concussed and wobbly as it was.. there was no need for number 41 from lower to do what he did considering they were winning by nearly 100 points, this same guy number 41 had tried to kick a mernda player earlier in the game as it was also!

Hurstbridge vs. Diamond Creek
The Demons feel that they let one slip last week and won't be in any mood to do the same against the Bridges in the local derby.
Epping vs. Thomastown
As predicted last week, the Blues are starting to get their game together and shouldn't have any problems disposing of the Bears in this game.
Lalor vs. Lower Plenty
Rightly the League's Match of the Round, although I suspect both teams are eyeing bigger things come September. Both teams appear to be near to full strength so even this early in the season it should give us a guage for the finals action. At home, I'll give the Bloods the edge.
Mernda vs. Fitzroy Stars
A tricky match here and I suspect that the Demons might be giving themselves a chance at their first win. However if the Stars want to keep in touch with the top four they must and should win a close game here.

watched the Lalor v lower game, Lower didn;t give a wimper, Lalor too strong, too determined, am convinced watching yesterday they will be taking Nth Heidelberg's spot in D1 next season, can they swap now.

Been a bit quiet on here for the past few days. Maybe the Bloods big win last week has sucked all the air out of the division! Anyhow, for this weeks matches:

Hurstbridge vs. Epping
The Blues are showing some good form at the moment and should be too good for the Bridges who have just been hanging in there in recent weeks.
Diamond Creek vs. Lalor
After confirming their status as Premiership favourites, the Bloods will be keen to take another scalp in disposing of the Demons here.
Thomastown vs. Mernda
Even this early, it's a relegation battle this week. Both teams haven't shown any real form so far and it will be a matter of which teams players are switched on the longest to secure the win. Possibly a chance for the Bears to bring up a couple of their better U19s and at home think they can climb above the Demons - at least for a couple of weeks.
Fitzroy Stars vs. Lower Plenty
Anticipating that this game will be a lot closer than many expect as the Stars play their ground well and have always given the Bears trouble. The Stars are certainly an improved unit this season but in the end the Bears should get away with the points.

Epping to good for Bridges by 15 goals
Creek at home by 2 goals to burst Lalors bubble
Thomo at home should acount for Mernda by 4 goals
Lower back in the winners box v Stars 3 goals
Good Luck to Most :D

Seems like the Fitzroy Stars faithfull are up to there old tricks again! Word has it that a Stars official (umpire escort) punched an opposition official (team manager) in the face, whilst opposition official was sitting in the coaches box doing his paperwork at game end. Sounds like Stars committee as good and hard working as they may be can`t or lack the willingness to deal with these issues on a regular basis. I understand an investigation will be asked of by opposition club from the league and hopefully dealt with in a manner that provides a very serious penalty!

If this is the case... Seems a little unfair to label a whole club due to one guys actions. I can say first hand that our match against Fitzroy earlier in the year was very well attended, behaviour was first class, spoke with a few of their officals during the leadup to co-ordinate & cross promote AUSKICK and there was a sea of fitzroy stars polos in the rooms after the game in good spirits... This was after a loss which they really let slip. Credit to the guys down there and i thank Fitzroy for helping our home game earlier in the year being a success... Maybe we can talk about positives of clubs rather than the typical general slander targeted at the hard working individuals on the Stars committee who more than likely had no control over the incident...

Thankfully you had a good experience. However that one person was an official appointed by the club and therefore that club has a responsability to manage that person! The Lower Plenty Football Club Football Manager warned the Fitzroy Stars officials at Qtr time that there umpire escort was being very abusive towards Lower Plenty players and officials. A suggestion was made that perhaps it would be in there interests to remove this person from his duties before it got worse. No action was taken and the Fitzroy Stars umpire escort decided to take out his anger by belting a bloke who is a great and popular clubmen, who would be the last person to resort to violence! He also had a go at one of his own club reps who was trying to restrain him. There were apparently other issues during the game, one of which involved one of there players following one of our players off the ground after he was yellow carded, walking past our coaches and fronting our player at the coaches box inviting him to take him on. I don`t doubt the commitment and hard work of those at Fitzroy Stars, however this type of behaviour should not be tolerated and I would hope that Fitzroy like any club would be taking measures to insure these types if incidents don`t happen again and those responsable are given there marching orders. Happy to talk about the positive of clubs, but not at the expense of volunteers getting belted by idiots who should have no part in any sporting organisation. And if people like him remain involved in any shape or form, then those at pointy end of the hierachy are just as culpable!

ah the memories. being a pies supporter i now know how the opposition felt at vic park....20-25 years ago! the legend lives on! Seems to me 80's footy is creeping back into our game this year.

Sounds like a messy afternoon which is disappointing... Must say i am not defending the actions of idiots, just not a big fan of that tarred brush that sometimes gets used to target clubs for individual’s actions... Don't know the full details so maybe there is responsibility, i don't think it would have been a directive or encouraged by Fitzroy but maybe by the sounds of it, maybe it could have been avoided...?!? Hindsight is rarely wrong but is a little unfair... I hope the Lower Plenty official is ok and feels comfortable to continue with his role. Many of the Lower players and officials stayed awhile after the Lalor game, a few officials attended a luncheon supported by Boag’s Draught, (haven’t thrown that one in for a while) and were very generous when it came to raffle time and supporting our club - everyone got along very well and a club/club relationship was built on. Such a disappointment for all concerned in regards to this one on Saturday. Lalor has been up against that sort of slander and tainted image for many years due to the behaviour of a small number of non-members decades ago... We are far from the image many portray and do a lot to change attitudes. I just feel it is a little unfair to label an entire club a disgrace... i would assume Fitzroy would be more disappointed about this bloke than anyone as they have made big moves in improving their brand over the past few years. This sort of stuff can put clubs back years and is why i felt Fitzroy THE CLUB needed credit where it was due with regards to behaviour and attitudes at our game.

It was an interesting day at Vic Park, that's for sure! The league needs to also have a good look at who they send to umpire these games. The young guys umpiring were clearly intimidated by Stars players. A lot of the free kicks paid in the last quarter were very strange, but at least it settled some of the tension and didn't affect the result of the game too much. These umpires need to show some balls and do something about situations before they escalate. The umpire could clearly see the Fitzroy player leave the field of play, walk through the coaching staff into the interchange area to confront the Lower player on the bench, and he didn't have the courage to do anything about it.
