True, True Mr Boof. Accountability is what's wanted. And when the new league and administration were installed that is what the clubs were told with regular President/Secretary meetings. But how many have been held since the start of the new reign not ******* the AGMs ? The current administartive setup is fine, but the clubs should be running the league by making the administration accountable, but at the moment it appears to be the tail wagging the dog !

Who's making a guest appearance for Macleod 2nd's tomorrow ?
I fear for the fullbacks livelihood.
the injuries down at DeWinton have caused a few problems, but cant be good when you see musta and swan on the bench

yep were are petrified

bit less cryptic
also known as the biggest tool in the valley or perhaps second to the bag snatcher :D
Imagine calling yourself Mont Man,you goose. You've left yourself wide open with that post, talk about skeletons and closets.

Given Macleods recent form over the past five weeks one flogging, three narrow losses & a win they are a game & % outside the five. With injured players to return, the recent return of Ewart at full forward & a bit of luck are they a sporting chance for fifth spot?

They must beat Borough next match first, of course but I think they have real chance.

At the half way mark of the season my thoughts are that Heidelberg are still a long way ahead of everybody else and it looks like we will go through the motions yet again as they win another flag!
Bundoora are getting better each week and West Preston have improved greatly this season. Vinnie Datoli is proving a few critics wrong from last year showing that he can coach!
Mont still have a question mark about them in my opinion. i tend to think they are not up to it but I could be wrong?
Eltham look to be the same Eltham they were last year. I don't think they have improved much , if at all ?
North Heidelberg have done very well without Harvey and Caddy from last year. They are always a chance against anybody except Heidelberg.
Northcote Park are hot and cold. They might be the surprise packet in the second half of the season?
Macleod in my opinion have been fantastic for the comp this year after Thomastown's dismal year in 2009. They have stepped up to the tempo of Div 1 very well and will have a say in who geys into the finals. A spot in the 5 is not beyond them !
Greensborough looked the obvious candidate for relagation early on but they have fought back to be a real headache for sides who take them lightly.
Lalor on the strength of 2008 & 2009 looked like being big contenders for the finals but
have shot themselves in the foot with ridiculous decisions off field to discipline players with threats of fines, clearances and even "deregistration" if they don't turn up for training and meetings! They lost their biggest assett in Lance Whitnall with this idiocy before the 1st game. His loss has demorilsed the team and given all the other teams a huge confidence boost when they play Lalor now!
The biggest problem Lalor will have now is how to keep some of their outstanding young players to stay and play Div 2 next year?
I have heard some talk of a few players already being looked at by Craigiburn next year which coincidentlly just happens to be where Lance Whitnall and former vice captain Terence Upoko happen to play this year?
I am interested to know what other people's thoughts are on the NFL at the half way mark?

pretty good summation mate.you would like to think heidelberg can be beaten but we would just be kidding ourselves.bundoora again look likely for that grand final berth.wide open for third with west preston, nth mont and even northcote park all capable.but macleod and greensborough as have shown can beat the good sides on there day.
no easy beats like thomastown last year so last spot not as clear cut.
being a north fan think i didn't have huge expectations losing caddy, harvey, h ryan, s ryan but have picked up a few handy recruits.going to be a pretty exciting second half of the year i think.

It's was always going to be hard to keep the momentum up all year and they have been building towards a win over the past few weeks.

Take Heidelberg out of the equation, their next biggest loss was against
Greensborough when most expected them to win, so looking forward to
the rematch this week.

We may be a "Sporting Chance" for 5th....but would have to win 9-10 games. I'm thinking 7-8 wins might be more realistic which would be
above everyone's expectations at the start of the year.

My comment was not directed at any particular administration. Just magnifying the seed and fertile ground of nepotism. In fact I believe the NFL administration have served well. Sure, there's probably some things they could have done better, however, any reasonably minded person would agree the positives far outweigh the negatives.

More than a sporting chance you 'Plastic Gangster'.

ha ha .....I like it....."Plastic Gangster"
Are you the "Optical Illusionist" ? Right back atcha !

What do you think of the NFLs "rivalry" round?

West Preston v Northcote Park

Heidelberg v North Heidelberg

Bundoora v Eltham

Macleod v Greensborough

Lalor v Montmorency

Not sure about Mont and Lalor - would have thought Boro or Eltham for derby reasons.

Maybe Heid and North Heid?

Bundoora/Eltham??

As much as I would like to see it, I think Maclead will stuggle for fifth. Lots of tough away games to come. I think the goal of staying in Divvy 1 should remain the main game for 2010, if finals came then well & good but not the main game for this year. The two missed opps. v. Mont & Norfs hurt.

imo lalor are certin to come down so on that macleod should be aiming for the next step which is finals i still wouldnt put it past them....

Bit of extra depth in the ranks with your comeback MUSTA might just help their cause

We must be scraping the bottom of the barrel........or is it that Number 5
has suddenly become available in the senior ranks ???:p:p

Did Musta actually shove the hot water bottle down his jockstrap in the magoos ? Just a rumour I heard

yes they have won 6 in arow and will get back most of the players that have been injuried after the break iam looking forward 2 the rest of the season

After having a look at the reports from the weekend I noticed all 8 offences from senior matches were from either Div 2 or 3 matches. I know you can't look at one week in isolation but could the conduct of NFL Div 2 and 3 teams be giving the league as a whole a bad name? Or are Div 2 or 3 matches being officiated by less experienced umpires who are failing to keep the games under control? I welcome your thoughts.

Goes with the standard I guess, but in saying that, I reckon there are a few teams in DIV 2 who would not look out of place in DIV 1 if you know what I mean

Underbelly since you most likely watched a few div 2 teams run around last year what is your thought on those teams and which ones do you think could make it in div 1? as you guys are giving it a good crack at the moment!

What are ppl's thoughts at the halfway point of the season in terms of the following:

1) Premier & Runner up:
2) Comp B & F:
3) Best recruit:
4) Relegation:
5) Biggest surprise:

I will go:

1) Bergs over Bundoora
2) Bill Morrison
3) Paul De Chellis
4) Lalor
5) Macleod winning 4 games and being competitive against (almost) everyone. Continued failure of the Eltham model (not really a surprise to the learned punters though)
