Well i dont know much about him but from what im reading hes kicked goals against struggling teams so will be a good test for him to kick goals against a stronger team my tip is thomastown by 10 goals and another Califiore show!!

not taking aim at you directly pal, i've just noticed that after every loss for decent sides people get on spouting the outs.
i agree, a decent side should have good depth. If not then it shows you are not a good side. If you rely on your best 22 every week then chances are you will struggle at some point through out the year!:thumbsu:

every forward arguably gets tagged. he plays forward pocket the whole game with his opponent by his side the whole game. i wouldnt call that a tag, i'd say the opponent is just playing in the backline and playing the usual defensive role which he would on every other forward pocket:thumbsu:!

a SPECIAL congratulations to Kouta on being nominated for an OSCAR after his terrific act in knocked-up;). Also congratulations too Rosco on playing his 300th game this weekend against Sth Morang:thumbsu:.

Also well done to Ric on finally getting a Guernsey in the ones! He will be wearing number 96:thumbsu::thumbsu:.

Go luck to all teams this weekend (except Sth Morang:D!!)

What are people predictions for this weekend? this will be a tester for the Stars, this weekend, also hope it rains, should be good to see what our pace is like and body strength? Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Eagles Nest you play a familiar tune. Spruiking for the Eagles. Everyone at the Eagles knows you play for the Lions!

The Eagles have achieved nothing ever in the history of the DVFL / NFL. Why would you talk them up?

Unless of course you harboured some secret desire to see them fail!

Fail they may, but as they say in the classics, "Better to walk the path of a beaten man than to have never walked the path at all" Have u walked the path?

PM your membership number if u r an Eagle member, I won't wait up for it - cos we all know u are no Eagle with the comments u make!
HERE WE COME !!!!!!!!
If hawthorn supporters can do it so can i.
And factual if you can read english i said i was not a member due to work so you can stick your PM up your !!!!!! and no desire to see them fail...perhaps with those words of advice you should be a coach or maybe you are ha ha To have 40 odd scoring shots in the conditions today i'll leave it to the footy people to make their own decision and mase06 buddy i have followed the eagles up here for at least 29 yrs and all i can say players come and go but i will always remain never said i was i player :thumbsdown::thumbsdown: but maybe a long time ago ...............

While these tossers argue over which team is going to win the "who gives a fat rats ass cup" between Macleod and Ressa, who do you all think are:
-the real contenders
-underdogs and...
-just plain no good

Oh and by the way...Macleod by 10 goals

The real contenders from what I have seen would have to be Whittlesea. I haven't seen the other top 4 or 5 teams play but they have been easily 10 goals better then any other team we have played. Well drilled and a very professional outfit.

Underdogs I think are thomastown. Even though I havent seen them get around I know most of their players and they have played together a long time and have a good unit of local grown talent.

Mernda just have not been able to perform to the standard that we should be at. We have lost a few games by small margins that we just haven't been able to stand up when we should have. Injuries were an excuse early in the year but at this point we just plainly aren't playing to our potential.

Mooseman i dont think Thomastown would be seen as underdogs.Played finals last 2 years, heading into a 3rd year and after seeing them totally dismantle Macleod i think the boys from Rosanna know it aswell.

so much footy to be still played. any top 6 team can win on their day, need to wait till every side has at least played each other once...finals footy a diff ball game- remember what the bloods did!!!!!:D:D

Well done boys on the weekend, might have been patty one week who saved the day then cost his side the next, got sent off for a silly shirt front against one of our younger boys with his head over the ball, thought it changed the game. So far this year we've had 11 boys who have played the whole 7 games, 3 played 6games, 2 have played 5 games, 4 have played 4 games, 7 have played 3games 2 have played 2games and 8 have been in for just 1 game so far. Big test next week with playing curtain raiser on Saturday at 4:30pm @ the MCG, then against Panton Hill on Sunday and also a good chance to be higher on the ladder with most other medium teams on the ladder playing against stronger sides in round 8

In true wintery conditions the Macleod boys were simply outclassed by better opposition. We always suspected a tough game against the Pingers and, true to form, that is exactly what we received. To be neck and neck at 3/4 time and lose by the best part of 3 goals was disappointing. My better players for Macleod were Danny Nakervis, Scott and Lovett. For the home side, Hollow, Reid and Lirosi were easily the best.

MACLEOD BOY: What were your thoughts on the game, we were certainly disappointing!!

GHOST: It was good to catch up with you on Saturday, though it wasn't exactly great whether for drinking....those coffees went down a lot better than the Vic cans were. We discussed the game briefly after the final siren but what were your thoughts?

Curran's shirtfront was NOT while the player had his head over the ball. I was probably 10m away when that happened and both players were running straight at the footy. Both players knew the impact was coming and it was good by the young fella not to take any sidesteps. The stars player did not have his head down or anything like that. The umpire gave patty a weak yellow card and it wasn't even the controlling umpire. The game was a good hard fair contest. Apart from an incident with one of our players being severly eye gouged under a pack it was an awesome contest. The conditions did not favour us at all. Being a taller team player against a small running side like the stars was too much.

I was the waterboy for the Stars on Saturday arvo. And i can tell you that his head was definitely over the ball. He had his head over the ball and the Mernda player had absolutly no desire for the ball. It was clearly a tactic by Mernda to slow the game.

I watched patty run in and his intention wasn't to play the ball or attack the ball, there were to many players around the contest for patty to get any where near it, his option was to clear passage! when your as big as patty and you have a bald head, you tend to stand out a little bit better than the rest, from my point of view, i was surprised he didn't get reported, if that had happend in the AFL, he would've of gotten more than 15mintues, that is for sure

Now i know that Heidelberg West have a big problem winning games and dont win to many of them. But i was quite amused seeing their theme song posted on their website.

Club Song
sung to the tune of
"Road To Gundagai"

There's a team not so old And their colours are brown and gold,
And they call us
West Heidelberg

Oh the ball that we
are kicking,
The team that we
are licking,

Is quite a sight to see

Oh you oughta see our boys go up for a mark,
They go up so high,
they don't come down
till dark

Any plum,
And pud,
Are the Westerners
any good,
We're on the road to a PREMIERSHIP.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
What does 'The team that we are licking' actualy mean?...Very interested to find out, also noticed that Aiden Young has been in the best for Heidelberg West for a few weeks now so well done mate, look forward to playing you's in Round 9

I agree that he wasn't trying to play the ball, but its a contact sport and he was doing exactly that. Making contact and getting one of your players out of the direct contest. Being 6ft and 100kg I was one of the guys that struggled on saturday and the only chance we had of making an impact on the game was physically, there was no malice or intent to injure the stars player. It was simply a good old fashioned shirtfront and I would have been disgusted if Patty was reported.
