interesting news to come out of Mernda training last night the cockroach decided to impress the boys with his torpedo goal kicking skills only to unleash something a nine year old would be proud of :Dand in the process doing a hammy, but whilst being carried off looked much like Gary Lyon's stretcher episode it left the boys wondering, there's something about a grown man crying thats just not right especially there leader i just hope the big fella can make it to the game.
chin up digger i still believe you can kick 60m :p:thumbsu:

I saw that incident myself and what you probably didn't see was the ball hit a seagull, as for being carried off i heard he collapsed when milky suggested he should be in the ones
by the way whats mikhela mean in latin ?

I know quite often at away games, the first thing you want to do is get out of there - particularly after a loss. But as Snorta said, clubs have to support each other with this sort of thing and there is no excuse. I know from this year that his club has clearly been the best at doing that (might have also had something to do with the fact that the boys seemed to enjoy a beer!) And you cant tell me that after running around a footy field for 2 hours that you cant walk another 200m to get to Epping's clubrooms???

Had the pleasure of sharing a tale or two over a couple after the game last week with Snorta, our rooms (Morang) was very well attended by the Parkside FC, thanks for that guys.:thumbsu:
Fitzroy Stars were also well represented in our rooms when we played them,:thumbsu: maybe because it was their first win in the competition.
Wallan by far were the worst club at not visiting opposition social rooms but i remember reading a couple of times in the record of them bagging other clubs for not hanging around, i always found this funny as i think the most that ever came into our rooms from Wallan was 2.:thumbsdown:

Well, the time of week that everyone has been waiting for, my all important tips:

* Lower by 14
* Thomastown by 80
* Macleod by 35
* Reservoir by 20
* Watsonia by 60
* Fitzroy by 17
* Whittlesea by 37

Good luck to all....another serving of Nachos as I watch a replay of the 2003 Grand Final......GO LIONS

my selections for this saturdays matches:
if stars can hold their form they can record a win over the bridges
the pingers are on a roll and should beat lower who have been disappointing recently
its a no-brainer - thomo by a record margin. what is the record for the biggest score and largest winning margin in div.2?
in the who-cares-match, the redbacks can just win over ressie
another big win coming up for the eagles in the family grudge match
the saints desperately need to bounce back and they should at the expense of the devils
this match should be closer than many expect, but the Kangas should beat the demons.

hey ghost hope you enjoyed the bowl of nachos and the 03 replay of the grannie but i reckon the 95 grannie was better to watch!!!

wtb - looking forward to hosting the stars next week, should be a big day and good game...

lethal leigh - hope you've had that troublesome foot removed from your throat and the eagles have a loss:D:D

Agree with ya Ding dong. But how important are the 4 points for Mer, Watts, P'Side and hursty this round. I'm off to Whittlesea to see the very much anticipated contest take place in that freezing part of the world. Hope the Mernda boys have the fire on on my way home

Big scores in Division 2:
Eltham 52.41.353 vs Thornbury in 1989
Lalor 53.32.350 vs Watsonia in 2004
Epping 54.23.347 vs Thornbury in 1989
Northcote Park 51.31.337 vs Macloed Rosanna in 1994

A great game at mernda today. The boys took the fight right upto Macleod but shockingly inaccurate kicking by our boys and excellent kicking by the other mob made it very hard. We actually hit the front in the 3rd quarter but struggled from then on...

Did you see the hissy fit put on by the No.5 at Mernda today sooky sooky la la:(:(:(. Golden rule of footy dont cut the cockroach off when he's on the lead. Doesn't matter how high your opinion is of yourself.

Great Win Today By The Boys. Morang Were Up Early, But Couldnt Maintain The Pressure. Big Game Next Week Now, If We Can Beat A Depleated Watsy We Can Probably End There Top 2 Aspirations.

My Old Team Seem To Be Hitting Their Straps, I Think Epping Have The Best Run In Of All The Top 6 Teams, Only Have To Play Thomo Out Of The Top 6 Sides. Good Luck To Them As A Good Club With A Good Bunch Of Kids.

Anyone Got Any News From Other Games.

I heard the sickening noise of no 4 for macleods leg breaking from 15 meters away - hope all goes well for him - i think he was a youngster too - you just don't like to see that happen to anyone

Went to Whittlesea today and saw the predicted result but you would not have expected anything else after losing 6 of your 10 best players to one side but having been outclassed Morang can hold there heads up high they tried all day and did not resort to any sniping or illegal tactics to whittlesea 3 rd game l have seen of them this year impreesive when l look in the results and see there best well l must have been at a different game either they are playing ducks and drakes or the person that does it has no idea, the ex morang boys that made the best stood out the least out of the 6 ex morang boys that played

Prognosis is Broken Ankle & Broken nose in the 1 incident.
It stopped us in our tracks for the best part of the next 15 minutes
but the boys regrouped.

Inacurate kicking for goal by Mernda kicking with a nice breeze kept
Macleod in the game at 1/4 time.

On that effort alone, I'm predicting Mernda to make the finals.
They're a pretty good unit.

To Macleodboy07, I hope you're doing better this morning and I'll
make sure the boys come and visit.

thanks bong pocket and underbelly.
the good news is i didnt brake anything. while the xrays at the northern took about 4 or 5 hours they showed no obvious brake. but they were so busy in there it was get me in, drug me up, no brake, go home. so is all i no atm is no obvious brake. i will find out tomorrow what damage was done. hopefully nothing to serious and i can make it back in time for finals. thanks for the support but guys. and i had plenty of calls and text msg from the boys last night.
good to hear we got up. sounds as if mernda put up 1 hell of a fight which might be good for us macleod boys. the boys look prity flat before the game.

some intresting games on the weekend , some good games this weekend , looking forward to seeing thomo take on the stars this weekend in what is a make or break game for the stars , they will b pumped because its the start of naidoc week , and i think they will get over the line

Certainly hope so. Shattered that both games during NAIDOC week are away games, certainty for big crowds.

That's great news ! I had visions of Dulcify in the 1979 Melbourne Cup
when he had to be put down in front of 100,000 people.

Guess I'll see you Thursday night for a parma

Also got Watsonia from the top 6 but results indicate they are not where they were earlier in the season. Good win for the boys this week against LP but they need to put teams away when they have them down. Due credit to LP but we should have pulled away in the third and just could not put the score on the board.

Classical 8 point game this week for Mernda and Lower - should be very interesting because with Mernda's run home if it comes down to percentage they should have a very good chance of making it through.

I would say that Lower absolutely dominated play after quarter time, but couldnt convert their chances. The fact that Epping didnt score for over a quarter and a half was evidence of this. 1.8 to 0.0 in the 3rd quarter was costly, as was us having a very disappointing 1st quarter. You cant expect to give sides a 40 point headstart and win. Still, we drew level in the last quarter and didnt finish it off and they did very well to come up with the goods when the game was on the line, after not looking like troubling the scorerboard for the previous 45 minutes. Must win game this weekend!!!!!

Ghost- after reading pretty much all of this thread and cant find one mention from a h/west player.....so why are you trying to be nice to them. Did you believe seriously that Thommo would beat them by only this much? Even after beating Panton Hill by 160+. Interesting

News in from lower plenty, Jesse waters a former Carngham-Linton premiership player has threatened to walk out of the club after his loss in this weekends Man o Man.. Waters, who tipped over his chair and threw out his half finished glass of port upon hearing the results has shocked club officials and players by announcing his intentions. The club is cunfused as to why Jesse is upset by the results, considering he was not even in the event.
I spoke to several players who were present on the night and was told not only was he not a participant, but he showed up late and drank drinks he snuck in..
Jesse hasn't been returning calls but did manage to fire out a text to reserves captain Dean Carr late last night requesting deans presence on the podium at star bar..
I will try to keep you all informed as the saga unfolds...

just thort i would send out a huge thank you to the mernda football club and trainers. i was the player that went down in the 1st quarter and was stretched off. together with the macleod trainers you guys took good care of me and did everything right even when i was being stubbon. and i would just like to send out a big thank you!
use even let me into ur rooms so i didnt have to go into the old shed (away rooms)
And just to let use no my leg and ankle wasnt broken but the noise i herd was the ligerments snapping off. but the achillies is all clear.
im now hopefull of a return this season.
