Just snooping around on Facebook, it wouldn't appear that there is much hope of a Glen Waverley revival. Somebody asked if there would be football in 2024 and the response was simply that the door was open if anybody wants to get in touch and re-form football. Doesn't sound like there's anything in place.

Leaves the league at 47 clubs but I see they're trying to get Narre North juniors across again, which says to me they'll encourage a new senior club there.

What is the purpose of their existence then? Are they seriously thinking they will continue to exist as a stand alone netball club? Their facebook page is the one of the cringiest things I've ever seen. Congratulating former juniors for their games at other clubs.

Anyone courageous enough to predict an upset for one of the grand finals this weekend? With Donvale already winning last weekend, we surely have to have one upset don't we?

I can't see it and in saying that Grand Finals produce upsets. A lot of teams go all year winning everything and fail in the big dance. I've been impressed with Heathmont, they have the ability to upset Boronia. Sth Belgrave are just a class above Mitcham will win comfortably.

Will Vermont lose and go out in straight sets?

Well Watching the stream, great stuff Mitcham all over SB. Vermont into the GF. Wrong with Mictham and Vermont I may be right with Heathmont.

Long time lurker, first time poster on this board. Just wanted to pop in and say a huge congratulations to Mitcham! Such a shame that the promotion/relegation situation means they won't be able to return to Div 1 next year (yes, I know what it's actually called, but I refuse to buy into the VAFA type BS).

Super effort by Macca and the team, particularly with hosting finals at the same time, it's a wonderful reflection of the culture of the club. Been quite a while since I've made it down to Walker Park, but will continue to keep a very close eye on the Tiger's progress! Fair to say the club has come a very long way in the last decade and a half.

It is a shame, but that's what the EFNL clubs decided. Mitcham's place in Premier has been given to Berwick. Boronia's place in D1 has been given to Beaconsfield.

The League is very canny to separate the entry of new clubs with the actual consequence. They enter one year, and the consequence comes a few years later. Perhaps the clubs will wake up one day.

They'll just have to doublr their efforts and go again!

It's pretty easy for a majority of clubs to vote on things that don't directly affect them but indirectly benefit them

If only it were that simple... I saw something posted earlier (can't recall if it was this thread) that said there also wont' be promotion to the top flight next year either. Is that correct?

What a f*** shambles...

That depends on your perspective. The EFNL put it to the clubs that they wanted to even up the divisions. Presently Prem is a 12 team division, 1 & 2 are 10 teams, 3 & 4 are 8 (and 4 became 7 when Glenny Hawks pulled out). This year is a reset - 2 teams down from Prem, 1 and 2, 1 down from 3, 1 up from 4 - 4 divisions of 10 teams and 1 of 8 (7). The clubs voted for it when they voted to let Berwick and Beaconsfield in I believe

Many clubs have voted on issues that have no direct impact on them until many years later. The promotion/relegation that is happening is to me the only one that has ever made sense. In saying that there are still clubs from other leagues that want out of their leagues and want in with other leagues. What's wrong with where they are?

I understand the maths behind it, and that the (majority) of clubs agreed to it. I've also just realised that I mis-read the structure summary and that there will be promotion to the top flight next year, which makes more sense.

Hopefully the Tigers haven't peaked a year early and can go back-to-back!

It is the best thing for the league to even up the divisions. From a div 3 perspective this year playing some teams 3 times is horrible. Im sure there were a few clubs horrified about having to come up to Coldy twice this year. I cant see any other way it could be done.

You could argue clubs shouldn't be let it where they were, but what would be the point of starting Beaconsfiled or Berwick in Div4? You could argue East Burwood shouldnt not have been promoted over the years, no clubs voted on that.

Surely its all noise now anyway with South Belgrave losing? Most of the talk about non relegation was based around them. Imagine promoting Mitcham and say South Croydon is relegated (3 down 1 up). Mitcham would get obliterated in Premier. South would eat Div 1 for brunch.

Correct - clubs are very short-sighted. I mean if you vote to let in clubs above you (in your division or higher), then you're obviously going to pay a price for it later as it stacks in more clubs above you. Seems like most clubs just shrug their shoulders and wave it through... I mean when Premier went to 12 clubs it was obvious it was going to be reduced sooner or later. What did they think was going to happen?

Clubs want out of their league because another one is "better" and there's no overarching management or direction from AFL Vic. Which allows empires to be built. Really... this is what the EFNL has done. People say the Southern League is weak... well of course it is, all the strong clubs in the area are in the EFNL, Outer East, MPNFL and VAFA!

Having had a chat with a couple of Mitcham's stalwarts on Sunday, they weren't sure they were ready to go back up or financially if they could afford the jump. Others at the club may have a different view. Either way a Premiership is a terrific accomplishment and you would think that the standards set by these clubs will improve next year with the added incentive of promotion next year.

With all the discussion about no promotion, it is interesting to to note Boronia have won 2 flags in recent years where there has been no promotion due to the realignment of the league. Surely they have been unlucky as they should be in division 1 due to being in a far stronger position than some of the clubs already in the higher grade.
