CDHBU, Holbrook, RW Giants and MM have all lost players to Corowa if my mail is correct. Holbrook heaviest hit
It’s intriguing how it will play out at JFO. I would assume all these players would carry 3 points coming over from the HumeFL and with all the top line /travelling recruits they’ve already announced I can’t see many boys from the bush getting a run.

For the sake of a conversation they’re going to be able to fit say 8/9 locals/ 1 point players to fit in their better players who carry more points with the 55 allocated for 2025. I can’t see many of the Hume/Tdfl players going to Corowa being in the top 12 players they have when they’re using the remaining 40 odd points

I can see a lot of disgruntled district players who will seek clearances back out the bush as they won’t want to play in the early game

Not everything comes on a silver platter RR. O&M and bush are on the completely different end of the spectrum, the boys heading into town will have to put in the work and prove themselves. Will be interesting to see who sticks it out and who doesn’t

Moves around a bit for a young fella.
Should he be one who has a crack at a higher level of Footy RR?
He is definitely someone who should have a crack at Ovens and Murray footy. Jack will need to apply himself more with his training efforts and doing the extras needed though and if he does that he will hold his spot in the corowa side all year.

Rumour down my way is Will Mitchell who had re-signed with Bairnsdale for next year is now off to Corowa with his dad Barry (a very vocal unofficial assistant coach at Bairnsdale).

Ball magnet inside mid, had plenty of clearances and tackles but I can't say I ever noticed him having a huge impact on games. Like his brother, very reluctant to kick the footy which may be why he didn't stand out from the sideline. Having said that he polled pretty well in league medal, obviously in the umpires faces doing the dirty work.
Won't be at Corowa, staying put

It wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement a rolling system. For a two-year system you could add the final placings after the grand final together for the two years and come up with a total (using the points scale provided by the league as a guide):

2-6 = 36 pts
7-9 = 37 pts
10-12 = 38 pts
13-15 = 40 pts
16-18 = 42 pts
19-20 = 45 pts

Based on the placings after the 2023 and 2024 grand finals and before any allowances are added:

Wang Rovers = 36 pts (6) i.e. 5 + 1
Yarrawonga = 36 pts (3)

Albury = 37 pts (8)
North Albury = 37 pts (9)
Wangaratta = 37 (7)
Wodonga = 37 pts (9)

Lavington = 40 pts (14)

Myrtleford = 42 pts (17)
Wodonga Raiders = 42 pts (17)

Corowa-Rutherglen = 45 pts (20) factoring in 10 pts for their season in recess.

Albury's GF appearance in 2023 would see them rise up a few spots (and paint a more accurate picture of their current standing). Apart from that the scales look relatively similar.

Dumb of them to give him $7 grand at this time of year
I’m led to believe it was a tactic used by cdhbu to try and counteract cresswell trying to get these boys into town. This will be 4 clubs in 4 seasons for Jack so I’d imagine he would be costing the Roos 4/5 points and lavis will be 3 clubs in 3 seasons which will also see him carry some package with the points. I worry for corowa when cresswell moves on as they won’t have 55 points to play with and they’ll be needing to cover a dozen senior players or so who will move on also with let’s say 15 less points . Let’s hope the brains trust down there are all over this otherwise they’ll be no better off
