The guys setting it up will have the league code. When they finalise what's happening I'm assuming they'll send it to us.
Also you can join up to 3 leagues this year, hope that helps.

Just leave one league spot free (you have 3 leagues you can be in). Then when the codes are sent out you can join the league given to you.

Yeh it does, you will probably be in league 2 rather than 3 now. So if anyone does remember their ranking it would be more beneficial to mention where you came.
I finished an awful 9xxx last year (after top 300 the year before).

Nobody is a 'must' but Cox is the closest thing to it.
I can't afford Cox. He's too expensive...
As BD said, no one is a must considering there are always going to be players of the ilk that will always produce massive scores such as Bartel, Ablett, Cox, just to name a few.
As for the bargains; from the Blues i'd strongly consider Gibbs, Houlihan, Yarran, and 'Tweak' Robinson.
Check out the DT forums, as there is some decent information there that will help you pick a team.

I kind of did a rush team a while ago but IIRC Houlihan was available in 2 positions. Which is the best place to pick him? I've got him as a Defender atm.

My own personal golden rule for this year is when you can select a player who can play either forward or back, always put them down back. The reason being is there are more higher scoring options down forward around the same price as Houlihan, whereas there aren't many other appealing options down back around his price, so fill that hole by selecting him as a defender.

I or one of the other 2 league captains (who will be allocated once the leagues are finalised) will PM or post the code in the private forum dedicated to the league. At this stage i'm waiting for the 3rd league to fill up before i start organising the leagues and therefore handing out the codes.
