Specious skipped the bit where he won't get a game because he is completely shit at everything for the past 3 years as a result of a bad initial injury. He's lost a good 10-15m in distance and his accuracy has plummeted too. Couple that with a lack of pace and never quite being in the right place at the right time and you don't have a good footballer anymore. You don't want him unless you give a 13th round draft pick for him.

Shhhh! You obviously don't work in sales.

Evening lads and ladies. Watts. Would he benefit from a change of scenery? What's he worth and would offers be considered?

Sorry boys, no chance of us trading Watts. Had a bad game today, but was good before his injury and got 15 touches in 1.5 quarters last week. Just got to bulk him up.

Not saying he is a dud. Wouldn't come asking if I was...

I'm not surprised, all the best for next week.

He is not off the trade table..... He, under Neeld is certainly going to be looked at over the pre-season!

in your opinion, what would get a deal done?

I think we still lack a key forward... Watts IMO is not a KPP. I know for a fact Adelaide can not facilitate a deal as Brisbane is where Tippet is heading and all your other forward are guns, who wouldn't be up for trade. It would require a pretty complex deal. But not too sure whether it would work.

It has been tossed around about Crameri from Essendon being a target, would think he and Mitch Clarke would be a good combination, but not sure whether Essendon would let this happen.

Good to see that Cloke is a monty to go to the Blues over the trade period.... They have a fair bit in the salary cap with Judd only getting $100k per year....

Re: Watts trade value, very very hard to know. He has shown glimpes, has great skills, but as we all know isnt close to justifying his selection at number 1.

Draft pick wise id say he is worth a pick just outside the top ten currently, something like pick 12. But i couldnt trade him for that. His upside (such a dirty word) is worth a pick around 5 or 6.

Dont think he has done enough to get us what we would want in return, so really, i cant see him going anywhere.

out of left field, What about jared Brennan?

Not a chance to come under Neeld I wouldn't have thought. Doesn't really fit his ethos of hard working, works both ways type of player. Doesn't seem to fill a "role" either except for naturally gifted talent that fades in and out of games. I think we've got that role well and truly covered.

Can anyone help out with what has happened to Gysberts? My understanding is that he has not been able to get a game under Neeld.

I know he is currently out of contract and was wondering what is likely to happen.

I thought his talent was undeniable (we were on the receiving end of it and so were some actually good sides) but it seems as though he is a victim of the Neeld grind. I'd love for Essendon to end their obsession with Caddy and look at to add Gysberts for midfield depth (and who knows what else).

He had a run against Gold Coast in round 19, He suffered an Ankle injury late in the preseason and before that was looking likely to play round 1. He then had his Jaw broken in his return to the VFL against Geelong. Doubt he would be traded, although who knows what Neeld will do at the end of the year. I hope we keep him and he has an injury free preseason....has alot of talent.
I hope you get over your obsession with Caddy aswell I would happily include him in out midfield next year.

Wouldn't surprise me if the club trades Gysberts. He's a decent inside mid but seems to have a poor motor and struggles on the spread. Geelong apparently are interested.

Melbourne are after inside/outside mids and a powerhouse kpf. If he wasn't such an injury risk, Gumbleton is probably the only Bomber player that we'd be interested in. Not interested in draft choices.

He is a gun, it is just that he will cost too much. I wouldn't have thought that Gysberts is too far behind on ability but I didn't realise that his 1 game this year was more the result of injury (which means he is not necessarily going to be any cheaper).

Gumby wont be going anywhere. It looks more and more likely that we play him forward, switch Hurley to defence and trade one of Pears or Hooker. Both are maligned but have been excellent in the past and, to be honest Hooker hardly lost a battle in the first half of the year when he had midfield support. You seem set for defenders though.

I wonder if Ricky Dyson as steak knives would be of any use. Clean disposal coming out of the backline doesn't seem to be a strength of yours (or ours for that matter). I expect that you'd laugh at Dyson but he has been a seriously good players this year and I'd prefer that we play him but our coaches seem to have made up their minds and nothing ever seems to be good enough.

If by 'steak knives' you mean Brent Moloney, I reckon we could work something out. No doubt Dyson is an excellent kick.

No it would be a second rounder plus Dyson for Gysberts. I want to avoid trading something we can't afford to lose to get Caddy.

I didn't expect that a second round pick would be enough (remember we are committed to Daniher). I know it will just seem like I am trying to get rid of trash but there are quite a few of us on the Essendon board who could not tell you where the weakness in Dyson's game is these days. As a defender he can beat a small and provide excellent rebound, like I said if I didn't think his papers were stamped he'd be in my best 22.

The deal I've heard is Hooker + second round pick for Caddy, so that may not work... Sounds like a decent deal in any case, provided that Gysberts is up for trade (looks likely unfortunately).

Yah let's just trade one of our brightest midfield prospects for another tall defender

No we would be trading for Dyson, not Hooker, who is going to the GC. I don't like it either but I've heard things about a lack of work ethic, hence the rumours around.

He has been injured all year.

He is under contract until the end of 2013

Apparently there has been some interest in him from Geelong and Melbourne has come out and said he is part of our long term future, we are not looking at trading him away.
