22 + White is probably slightly unders for Tippett, but only slightly. It is close enough.

The problem is the crazy Dees throwing the market out of whack by over-paying so much for Dawes.

Jesse White is a list clogger.

Tippett is probably worth a pick between 10-20 + sweetener.

Pick 22 ain't too bad but Jesse White doesn't add value to the trade.

Wonder if the crows are now interested in white because swans will be picking up the tab on the last year of his contract? Swans clearly have the cash...
And getting the deal done this week gives Adelaide a massive war chest to have a dash at someone next week?

What?

a bag of shit has more trade value than Jesse white.

The Crows must at least be considering taking White (fitness test there), so there is an assumption that they think 22 + White > 22 only

Problem is that most of the quality is gone out of the FA pool.

Use the cleared cap room to frontload the contracts of the players you want to keep, so they dont become free agents next year.

Melbourne believe pick 20 + 45 for Dawes and 58 is a good deal too, yet you took aim at them for that.

Adding Jesse White to the deal, IMO does not make the overall deal any better.

People saying they'd rather take nothing than the deal - that's just ridiculous. Pick 22 alone has good value, if you look at the last 4 years players drafted around that early 20 range (Ballantyne, Shuey, Redden, Zaharakis, Beams, Hannebery, Fyfe, Bastinac, Darling, Howe to name a few). If you've got some decent recruiters you should get a gun.

White is seriously not that bad. He kicked quite a few decent bags of goals in 09 and 10. His main issue seems to be attitude, which may improve with a fresh start.

Tippett's value is being driven up by this massive contract put in front of him. Realistically Tippett is worth around pick 20, similar to what the Pies received for Dawes however I think the Demons paid slightly overs for Dawes. Dawes worth around pick 30, Tippett 20 IMO.

Agreed, so many people displaying their ignorance by calling him shit or worthless. Would be a decent pick-up for Crows and I expect it will get the deal done with 22.

You can not afford to be bent over with out lube, or other clubs will come and poach players and offer you WAY UNDERS in return.

As it was said above, although the Crows are looking at white we cant assume that Sydney have only offered White and pick 22, they have found another first round pick from Club B which they plan to trade to adelaide as well.

We will find out in the next 9 days.

Is White an upgrade on Jenkins or McKernan ?

I dont think so, and as they already have two players like him on there list why would they pick him up?

If Swans sign Tippett, then I cant see White playing a game next year. I see him as pair of steak knives in the deal which has no or little value in comparison to Tippett. A bit like buying a Million dollar house for 500k and giving the previous owner a box of chocolates, although the box of chocolates dont use up the salary cap so I think i would take the box of chocolates :)

Does it work that way, though? Port toughed out the Stevens trade, and Collingwood gave Nick Davis away cheaply to Sydney. Did either decision affect how the two clubs got on with trading or were seen by other clubs after that? Wouldn't have thought so. I wouldn't be surprised if a mature approach that builds good relationships isn't a more productive strategy for future trading, as well as being much more positive for your players to see.

Based on reports Sando who won't be in Adelaide today meeting with White, and reports Noble who is in Melbourne reportedly picking up White from the airport, despite him being there for over a week......I call BS

Opinions ... arseholes ... etc.

If the trade happens, I will happily bet you that White will play games for Adelaide in 2013. In other words, my opinion is the opposite of yours notwithstanding your quaint little chocolates analogy, but I'm prepared to put my money where my (somewhat less big) mouth is. Interested?

Its not just about pick 22 being decent value. Its about Adelaide giving a premiership contender a leg up, whilst becoming significantly weaker.

I've heard that argument but I think the absolute worst thing is to lose a valued player for nothing. If Sam Reid today requested a trade to Collingwood and they offered say pick 20 and Simon Buckley, I'd take that in a heart beat cause the alternative is just letting him walk for nothing. You can't afford to worry about strengthening a fellow contender, just worry about the strength of your list IMO

I disagree; you have to worry about list management of yourself and your opposition, otherwise you get left behind.

Anyway I guess we will find out which approach Adelaide will take, take what you can or let him walk to a weaker team.

Heard Crows want Sammy Reid but Swans aren't biting. Not willing to give up that much for Tippett. Surely they won't settle for Jesse "The Spud" White! Still have a grudge against him for costing us a win in the 19th man draw a couple of years ago
