Given our bidding activity at last year's draft, I feel there might be a couple of clubs out for 'revenge bids' this year - whether that be on May, or Cleary, or even Rider...
Perhaps, but thankfully any clubs that might have that inclination (Crows, Hawks and Giants) currently don't have the picks that would be appropriate to bid on our players in proportion to where most scouts are ranking them.

What's most likely is that a club bids on Cleary a little bit earlier than we'd like just for the sake of getting more time on the draft clock to negotiate pick swaps with another club, just as Kinnear (and others) did in the past.

If a club bids on Cleary before pick 25 I think you'd almost have to let him walk because I think there will be much better/complete players available.

Kinnear just needs to spook potential bidders with his signature interview about weighing up all the options and whether or not we rate our own crop highly enough to match a potential bid.

Crows at 27, Hawks at 33. Though that seems to be his likely range anyway. We'd be hoping he gets into the mid 30s, but we'd match both these if it came to it I reckon.

Oh my bad, I must have missed the Crows pick 27 but you're totally right with the late 20s/early 30s being around Caiden's mark anyhow. At this stage, a top 30 pick seems fair for Caiden and I'd be rapt if we match a bid around that mark.

No Max Rider in the Allies squad today which is a shame. Was looking forward to seeing him play again.

Todays game will be more inside and contested, can see Caiden having a stand out game but will depend on how much time he gets on ball with the Allies strong midfield.

Feel a bit for Cabor who has been consigned to minding Oppo small forwards. I like his run and ball use. Cleary is a mid without stand out qualities..

May, Kirk and Gander unfortunately have not shown enough to be drafted.

Agree on Cabor, but this can work in our favour like Gulden.

We know exactly what he is capable of and it might end up with him as a 3rd or 4th rounder due to his limited impact at the Championships being played out of position due to how strong the team is.

It still puzzles everyone at the Swans as to how Gulden was picked up in the early 30’s and Campbell in the top 10.

Gulden was always going to be a better player for the simple fact that he can find and win his own ball at will, just like Nick Daicos can.

Just on Cleary, his qualities are not the flashy stuff. He is strong over the ball, athletically can cover the ground both ways, wins it very well on the inside and his hands below his knees are very good.

That is exactly the type of player we are looking for to complement what we already have on the outside such as Warner, Gulden, Campbell, JMac and others .

From all accounts also has very good leadership potential as well .

No question he looks a solid inside type. Reckon the knock on his disposal was exaggerated.

This is where scouts have become too clever for themselves because it's all about forecasting how high a player's ceiling can be and not a case of watching the game and seeing who can f**king play football.

Then it goes the other way around, in the case of Campbell, who had a cracking day out in the U17 Futures clash and turned a bunch of heads to soar up the draft ladder but if you look at his draft season it wasn't that extraordinary.

Regardless, I'm stoked we have both on our team and that Denver Grainger Barras is currently floundering at Hawthorn!

You'd love Walter to be in our academy.

Cleary and Cabor looking decent from their opportunities. Kirk some good pressure late (returning a smother).
Walter is going to be something special.

Fascinated to see if GC can retain him - or if he follows the usual path to Geelong after a few formative years.

He is a local born and bred player.

There would be no issues with him staying.

He is going to be a star. Like a Charlie Curnow with manic work rate.

Allies have been very, very good.

Lead by Roger, Mckersher, Sanders and Walter.

Suns have done well with academy crop in Walter, Read and Rogers.

Mckersher and Sanders will be top 10 picks

Cleary does have the tools to be an afl level player. Loves the inside and is good at feeding it out.

Unsure if Cabor or May get picked in ND, potentially rookies.

Due to the strength of Allies squad, Cabor is being played out of position.

His U18 competition form has been strong enough to be selected.

If we take 3-4 players in the main draft. I am guessing we will take Cleary with one of the later picks. Then probably May, Cabor or Rider as a Cat B rookie.

If we have a top 10 pick there should be some appealing players available. I think the Victorians Reid, Watson, Caddy and Duursma will be top 10. But there is also defenders Curtin and O'Sullivan and classy Tasmanian mids Mckercher and Sanders.

Vic Metro and Vic Country have 2 more games left, so there is opportunity for more 1st round Victorian prospects to emerge.

Thanks Sean, love your insights.

Allies have been very well drilled. There were a few long handpass chains that were great to watch.

Rogers was terrific yesterday and showed his ability to run both ways. No wonder the GoCo are scrambling hard for points.
