From the HSun's Allies vs Vic Country scouting notes re Carmichael:

#10 Lachlan Carmichael (Swans Academy)

20 disposals, seven marks

Not turning 17 until late August, Carmichael gave an exciting glimpse into the future with an emphatic start. Carmichael had eight disposals in the 15 minutes of the match and looked to be spending more time in the midfield than in the Allies’ previous games where he had been stationed in defence. The Swans Academy prospect is one to watch for next year’s draft.

From Dan Batten’s recap of the U16’s in the HSun:

In the first match between the Sydney Swans Academy and the Northern Territory, twins Guy and William Jenkin impressed with 37 possessions between them for the Swans as Conrad Blackwell-Smith (19 disposals, seven clearances and six inside 50s) won it at the source and Ben Pignatelli finished with three goals and 12 touches.

O’Loughlin, a 2025 draft prospect, was approved to play as an over-age player at the championships after an injury-riddled run, similar to Hawthorn father-son defender Will McCabe in the lead-up to his draft.

Gives me Mills vibes...

Always the curse of twins. Even their stats don't recognise them as individuals in their own right.

Twomey mentioned McCartney on Gettable as one of the four players to watch from the u16 carnival.

Would be handy to find out if there was a lean in either direction about who he would likely nominate for.

Jason McCartney played his last game on 6 June 2003.

He then held various roles at Freo and WDB before becoming GWS list manager at the end of 2017.

Aiden was born 4 November 2008 and obviously has lived in Sydney for some time.

Now the NM board may claim he is a North supporter, but the number of times they have hung their hats on that relationship (eg Josh Kelly 'coming home') and been disappointed, well............

Aiden lives in Sydney, plays with his mates in the Swans Academy, no doubt has plenty of schoolmates etc and it seems to me that the Swans are very good at making the Academy players feel part of the club.

Why move when, if you are good enough, you can walk onto the Sydney list?

All of that could be true but I'd just prefer to know what he thinks, not what we think he should think.

Aidan was well put in check by his defender in the first half but seems to be getting on top but we just need to covert, Aidan 0.2 and the team 3.10

The ball movement and inside 50s are obviously very patchy, but I feel like he would get it nearly every time if the ball is moved with any speed.

We definitely had better ball movement and switching just didn't know how to kick straight in the first three quarters
