Having another think about it, I'm not sure I would want Boyd this year.

I like the fact that the club has been strong & gone after a real target, but I reckon its more about making GWS squirm than us actually getting Boyd.
The club has put GWS on the back foot with them having to make statements that he wont be traded etc.
Like it not, the GWS attitude to trading Boyd is now general knowledge for the whole footy community.
Put's a black eye on GWS.
As well as having a player who they now know is unhappy & is likely to leave at the end of next season.
Interesting to see how that attitude affects the other players at GWS.
I dont think GWS will trade Boyd for Griffen & I also think its unlikely we will get Boyd next year.
Lot of water to go under the bridge before that happens.

Im a fan of trading Griffen for draft picks.
We can then pick up another KPP cheaper (McCartin/Wright etc) & if Boyd comes to us next year, that will be fantastic & we will have some real KPP talent to work with.

One thing is for sure is that Griffen has to be gone by 2pm tomorrow.
I cant believe the attitude of the guy by being away during the negotiations that will effect his own future & he is uncontactable.
Pity is that he doesnt appear to give a stuff.

Having said all of that, SEN have announced that the Griffen/Boyd deal is close......LOL
Still happy to get Boyd, I just prefer to trade up to get a KPF cheaper via the draft.

As much as I would love to see it happening, I just don't think it will happen. Griffen needs to leave though. Get this shit done.

From the Age:

EXCLUSIVE
A blockbuster deal in which Western Bulldogs captain Ryan Griffen would be traded for Greater Western Sydney's Tom Boyd is looking increasingly likely.
Under the deal, which is under discussion and yet to be finalised, Griffen and the Dogs' first pick, No.6, would go to the Giants in return for Boyd.
Boyd has been offered a deal believed to be six years and in excess of $6 million.

While this represents a backdown by the Giants - who had vowed Boyd would not be traded under any circumstances - the club will emerge with Griffen and an extraordinary draft yield of picks 2, 6 and 7.
If the deal is completed, the Giants will be in a position to trade for pick one from St Kilda.
Talks are continuing between the parties but it appears as though GWS has given ground. The club is understood to have come under pressure from the AFL to acquire seasoned players such as Griffen in order to lift its fortunes.
The argument against doing the deal was the message it would send to its other young stars coming out of contract, but the counter is that there are some within the AFL industry who believe the youngsters will stay if the club is more successful in the next 12 months.
Griffen's request for a trade to the Giants was the bombshell of the trade period, leading to the exit of Dogs coach Brendan McCartney last Friday.
The 28-year-old had vowed not to return to Whitten Oval despite the removal of McCartney.
Boyd was the No. 1 draft pick last year and is one of three highly-rated young key forwards along with Jon Patton and All-Australian Jeremy Cameron.
The Giants, should they wish, would have the option of drafting a replacement tall forward in Peter Wright if they retain pick four.
However, the club is more likely to select midfielder Christian Petracca if it lands the No. 1 pick.

Bitter Terry Wallace. Bitter, bitter Terry Wallace.

Too bad Barrett doesn't interrogate him about the Sydney situation in the same way he interrogated Liam Pickering. Oh yeah...

C'mon, Terry, tell us the truth.

He admitted he was the bad guy as well in that situation and lost respect. His honesty was refreshing.

Over the moon for the Dogs right now. I liked McCartney, but all this Boyd stuff... It's about damn time the small guy fought back!

Not done yet, shut the hell up* and don't jinx it

*sorry. Much love
