Those events you're referring to are from over a decade ago.

My problem with them getting a priority pick is that there's no guarantee it fixes anything. What happens in 2 years time when said pick decides they want to come home to Victoria?

Brisbane's premierships over a decade ago are of zero relevance to the argument of whether or not they should receive a priority pick.

I don't think Brisbane should receive a priority pick & I'd be very disappointed if they were given one by the AFL.

They already receive enough draft concessions as is by way of their academy. They already have priority access to certain players. Over the past few drafts they've had priority access to:
  • Eric Hipwood;
  • Ben Keays;
  • Liam Dawson;
  • Harris Andrews; and
  • Jonathan Freeman
On top of the above they have two more promising young footballers tied to them via their academy, both of whom are at this stage projected to be drafted within the first two rounds:
  • Jacob Allison; and
  • Jaco Rolls
Do people really believe that Brisbane's issues will magically disappear if they are granted a priority draft selection?

Brisbane are a massive concern - not just on the field, but more importantly, off it too. No amount of priority picks will make a difference on that front.

Time to scrap priority picks altogether really, they don't serve any real purpose.
Clubs are given ample opportunity to recruit and develop players that some (Carlton included in times past) are shithouse at it shouldn't be rewarded.
Brisbane were stiff to have a mass exodus of quality youngsters a few years ago which does suck for them but they do appear to have another batch of good youngsters coming through - it'll take patience but they'll be alright in the end.

We send some spud to Richmond for a juicy 2nd round pick and then send a worse pick onto Brisbane in exchange for a future club captain....?

EDIT: BluesRule beat me to it...

Why not just allow them to take one of their academy kids without having a bid placed on them then? Might kill any go home factor.

Liam Pickering is in deep doo doo now, could actually be stripped of his player manager license. What a surprise to find out he is most likely a crook :)

For what it's worth I was speaking to someone who works at Collingwood today and they told me they've never seen tensions so high in the club (with regards to the past few weeks). Also supposedly Bucks will at least see out the year.

Meh, he's a downhill skier and a habitual squib.. good riddance that he's gone.

As if........Jeppy will take his medicine and play his heart out in the 2's and show why he should have never been dropped.....

..........O.K. that wasn't nice but that was his form whilst with us. You can do better Jeff.

Historically, not many Collingworth coach has coached the Pies to three successive years without finals appearances and survived. We could put the nail in his coaching coffin the same night we elect a new Prime Minister which would be pretty sweet :)

Richmond recuiting Cousins knowing he went at shot up whilst getting interviewed is everything you need to know about Richmond
