Was Robbo sober?

Doing a lot of yelling and slurring for nearly the entire show. I'd be wearing a raincoat if I had to sit next to him when he's like that.

Excellent question. All he ever does is slur his words, squint, drop some names, hint at some inside info he knows, slur some more, and generally look dishevelled and hungover.

Edit; forgot the rambling. Loves a good ramble, does Mark Robinson. Must dribble absolute shite when he's drunk.

We have a new coach and need to improve, but WC, Hawthorn and Sydney are the three teams we have to get over this year. Reckon our best could match the rest if we can click and keep our best squad on the park. Need to match Hawks and Sydney for grunt to play it on our terms and bring our outside players into the game. Kreuzer is the key after he took Sydney apart two years ago and set out mids rolling. Reckon we have more X factor and outside class than most sides with Gibbs, Murphy, Yarran, Garlett, Walker and Betts dangerous running into space. Would love to get Menzel into the mix.

I tipped them for the flag too. If they can stay injury free, that's a ******* mean forward line.

Not sure why you think its so mean

2012 - WC 2224 pts for, Blues 2079 - 145 pts difference over the season, just over a goal per match difference
2011 - WC 2235 pts for, Blues 2225 - 10 points the difference, not even half a point per match difference.
2010 - WC 1773 pts for, Blues 2143 - 370 pts difference, close to 3 goals per match difference

Sorry but the ferals from Adelaide are the real deal. When you watch them live their run both ways is exceptional. Can't see it on TV but at the ground it is "special".

Premiership squad IMO.

Bit scary that they can add Kerr, Naitanui* and Wellingham to take the spots of Sheppard, Lycett and Cripps. Plus Butler and Rosa who are missing. WC for the flag.

*No palm tree jokes
Me and a mate do a crystal ball of ladder positions each summer at his shack and I like the eagles list so much in 2010 I had them as minor premiers. The won the spoon instead and stocked up on high picks and its no surprise to me how strong they are in 2013. Give them an almost unassailable home ground advantage and the are a lock for top two, home finals, and a huge chance for the flag. I still think the Hawks are a just as likely though.

I'm probably underselling Geelong who have a top midfield, forwardline and backline compared to Carlton. You can't write them off as having the measure of sides ranked fourth to tenth.
They have an excellent balance of top and medium level quality experienced players. They have also managed to recruit well over the last couple of years and their dip shouldnt be as bad as some of the other teams when they drop out of the finals race. They should easily be able to account for clubs in that range.

Fickle.

AFL pays $900k Sydney Swans bonus
The Swans yesterday confirmed it was the league - and the not the club - which paid out the 9.8 per cent bonus.

"It's not a secret. We went to the clubs and asked them as part of a unique cost - and the clubs all agreed," Demetriou said last night.

"It's a cost that other clubs don't incur."

"It's the perfect storm up there," the club figure said, pointing out that the Swans have featured in the finals in 12 of the past 15 seasons.

I'd normally say this is a joke, but this is the AFL we're talking about. Crack down on marketing agreements with one hand. Pay Sydney to keep their list together with the other hand.

The media will keep up the pressure on the cost of living allowances.

Wonder if the AFL will break like they did with Brisbane who lost their cap concessions.

Not shocked.

As long as the league continues to try and break into the sporting landscape in NSW, they will always allow the clubs up there that bit extra in the kitty over the rest of the country.

If Sydney can pull off a double or treble collection of premierships... then the AFL is going to have to consider the COLA for them.

Grand Final is NOT played in WA. They'll lose. Wont get a one-sided officiated game out of WA.

As far as Hawthorn goes.... They remind me nothing of a team that fought so gallantly to get within a couple of kicks of winning a premiership less than a year ago. With the mounting injuries to vital players and the off field dramas they remind me every bit of our season from a year ago. They've already lost Matthew Suckling for the season, God knows when Brendan Whitecross will resume playing (listed as indefinite), Osborne is yet to play after his injury, Lake and Rioli missed the final three NAB Cup games and Hodge is yet to play senior level football after his injuries, with a number of their other important players having suffered from less than complete preseasons - its a fight that once you're behind in there is very little opportunity to catch up. We saw that last year with our boys. It would not surprise me in the least if in six months the headlines featuring one Brett Ratten are replaced by Alistair Clarkson.

If I was to offer you a premiership fancy I'd be going all guns blazing on the Adelaide Crows. A healthy list (sans Brodie Smith and Ian Callinan) to enter the season as opposed to the Eagles, a home ground advantage as strong in my opinion as West Coast's, a very reasonable first month of football (Essendon tonight to open the season followed by a trip to Brisbane, home (away) to the Power and home to the Bulldogs) - they should be 4-0 by the time we meet them in round five. They only have five real danger games on the road this year - Carlton (round 5), North (9), Collingwood (16), Fremantle (18) and West Coast (23). The only other road challenge will be Richmond (12). They have hunger in their belly by coming so close yet so far last year, their kids would have developed a fair bit after the experience of last year and they're well coached.
