He certainly wasn’t their worst. Kicked 2 and should have had 3 but for awareness or lack of talk from his team mates who were right there watching the tackle unfold (Close). Got a fair bit of ball. Marking looked good too. Plays tall. I wouldn’t be disappointed with his performance if I was a cats fan.
The only thing left to debate is whether the trade worked out in our favour. So far it’s too early to tell.

He wanted out. Rarely gonna get market rate in a trade. I think we did well considering.

Yes too early to tell but on face value mitchell was more influential than henry

Got Mitchell in the Trade as he was one of our Bests last night

IMO the biggest difference to our game last night over 2022 was the number of clearances we won … and Tom Mitchell was a big part of that.

And given that we got Mitchell and pick 24 for Henry and two junk picks in the 40’s, we would seem to be well well ahead on the trade so far.

He had a decent game last night and is a very talented young player. That's why it's burns so much seeing him go, but you can't hold it against him forever. Got that first game out of the system and whilst I don't look forward to him blossoming into having a fine career, I won't hate the kid for it if he does.

I have no sympathy for Henry and this is why.

If he came out last year through his management and made the following clear:
  • I have nothing against collingwood, the players or the coach.
  • I’m struggling and want to head home to Geelong and live out a childhood dream to play with my brother

Everyone would’ve been upset but understood, instead him and his manager came out with the following:
  • the money was not good enough
  • worried about his spot because of mcstay coming in (at this time we had not even signed mcstay)
  • not happy being out of the best 22 throughout 2022

Bad advice from his management and his manager is to blame for the hostilities directed towards Ollie, of which I par took in.

Good riddance, you’re either with us or against us under fly, a great indicator of the ruthless culture fly has created.

That's shouldn't be the case. It's when we push out players that want to stay is when we don't get market rate. If we can't get market rate (let alone overs) for a player we want to keep we must be the only club that can never get market rate for our players under any circumstance.

Look at what other clubs manage to get for players that want out (Jackson, Dunkley, Hopper, Taranto, Bruhn etc)
