Henry is the one we need to lock away.

Macrae I’m less worried about. There’s unlikely to be many targeting him so if he’s happy he’ll stay. Given his personal circumstances I’d also not be shocked if he did want to go play with his brother so as long as we could facilitate a reasonable outcome I wouldn’t be against that either.

An example might be a pick from the dogs to get us back into the second round or could be used on a Connor Stone or a Sam Flanders.

No to a trade involving Ollie. We have a potential beauty here. Bird in the hand I reckon.

YOUNG PIE KEEN TO STAY

COLLINGWOOD young gun Ollie Henry wants to remain at the Magpies but isn't in a rush to put pen to paper on a contract extension.

The 19-year-old produced a match-winning performance against Fremantle at Optus Stadium, kicking four goals in 76 minutes game time after being activated as the medi-sub when Mason Cox dislocated his finger on Sunday night.

Henry has played 17 games since the Magpies used pick No.17 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft on the talented forward from the Geelong Falcons.

"I'm loving my time at Collingwood. I've got so many great friends here at the club," Henry told AFL.com.au on Wednesday.

"I'm pretty much just looking to stick the year out, play the best footy I can, and we will go from there.

"Right now, I'm loving where I'm at. Hopefully we get something done."

Henry is one of eight players who were taken in the first round two years ago who are yet to sign deals beyond this season.

If your chop-out-ruck / marking forward unco-unit (Cameron) is a good-enough contested pack mark, then you already have your get-out-of-gaol forward kick-to-a-contest contest....contested! So your designated FF can instead be a normal-sized 6'3" who marks everything and who can kick. No special need to spend two early picks recruiting a 6'7" Chad FF...it's been a very hit/miss purchase for 20 years now. It reminds me of WW2 armies still spending the nation broke to build better battleships, even after the aircraft carriers had already proven them obsolete due to dive bombers and torpedos.

Ok, it's not exactly like that either.

Anyhow, Henry is a beautiful mark and kick...and I rate that in a footballer.

"I think if you do get dropped, the mentality shouldn’t be, 'Oh why?’. It should be, 'What's next?'. Most of the times it's happened to me, I've almost felt a little bit of relief because I've known what I needed to go and work on. I've come back better for it. I don’t think there should be any unsavoury feelings against the coach for doing that. In my case, it’s a good learning opportunity."

Love this quote from Henry. It seems keeping him in the seniors for the sake of coddling his confidence isn’t the way to go about it.

As long as he stays, it doesn't matter. He says he's loving it at Collingwood & has made lots of friends.
He can go there when he's 34 (the right age for Geelong) and washed up.

Mr Park barracks for Geelong. He has a smug look on his face.

Yeah, once he's kicked 500 goals and won 3 flags over a 15 year career with us, he's more than welcome to go retire in Geelong :)

He would be loving life in Melbourne. Only a complete moron would choose to go back to Geelong.

Pretty sure being a Geelong player almost gives you the keys to the city. There are a lot of benefits, off the books, that the players receive. I mean, I agree with your sentiment but it’s not a fair playing field.

I know TD, but I’d prefer not to keep being reminded of it.
The Geelong references were from the journalist.
Ollie addresses it….

Of course, I miss it. The small things like family dinners, but I think I've got the best of both worlds. I've come to Melbourne and learned so much about myself," he said.

"They are only the car trip away, just down the road. I'm not missing out on much. I call mum every night just to hear what she's had to do that day. I'm not craving it; I'm loving where I'm at. I think I'm starting to grow as a person in an independent environment."

Ask Mr Park his thoughts on the highlighted bits.
