That gather of the pill and lovely handpass in the second term was exquisite. It's so exciting to see he has a ground level game as well as his aerial skill.

He also spotted up Ginnivan on his opposite foot right in front of goal in the second quarter as well which was very nice work.

Couldn’t believe Gin missed it.

But watching the replay, one of the things that stood out to me was when De Goey kicked his goal at the start of the 2nd quarter, it was from a contest//handball from Ollie.. And once the goal was kicked, they all went over to him. You could be mistaken into thinking he was the one that kicked it. But love how much support they are showing him. It's only helping his confidence.

Pleased to see that he's getting to a point where he is more comfortable at the level.

Liked that he took ownership when Elliot was in the goalsquare. Sure he missed, but had he chosen elliot, he would have had no choice but to go boundary as there was a carl player closing. Which means it was probably only slightly better % shot.
I bemoaned JDG for leading into the spot against bulldogs and Ollie getting sucked in by a senior player.
But this time Henry did the right thing and went back.

He will get more attention now. So lets see how he handles it.
Teams will very quickly make sure players put body on him to stop him flying at it.
twice last week against Freo and again yesterday opponents didn't put body on him in the contest and he out jumped and marked them.
They won't let him get away with that.

The only blemish (if you can call it that) i saw was the bullet pass that slipped through his hands.
But i liked that we went with his hands and not a chest mark. Shows he is gaining in confidence.

I've been a huge wrap since day 1 as i think he has the tricks.....i'm pleased for him that he's contributing and looking likely.
He'll still have bad days, but at least he has had good days to refer back to when his confidence takes a dint!

Bucks admits they knew he wasnt ready last year, but were determined to get games into him because of his talent.

“That boy Oliver Henry who’s form in the last few weeks has just been on an upward curve – when I watched is under 18 tape, this is what you hoped he would be,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“I know in (Nathan Buckley’s) first year, he was too raw and you can tell me if you played him too early or not, but he is doing now what he was doing in his last year of under 18 footy.

“So when you see that and you see that it’s transferable to the absolute elite, then you’ve got a player on your hands.

“He’s put three games together. The first one he just missed every shot he kicked. He had six shots in the first quarter in a half and was dropped off the back of it.

“When you watch him jump at the footy, he’s honest in the air. Some players don’t like it, he is genuinely honest in the air.”

Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley added that Henry’s talent was evident immediately, saying the club tried to get as many games as they could into him early on.

“We played him probably seven games out of the first 11 last year and he probably only earned two or three of those and he was dropped two or three times,” he said.

“We could see the talent and what he could do on the track, and he’s been dropped this year as well.

“That shows the resilience of the kid to say ‘okay, come up – not at the level. Come up – not at the level.

“Then he’s put two games together, kicked seven goals in two games, and he played very well last week.”

He did a number of really good things - that handball to De Goey & the pass to Ginni being just 2 examples.
He thinks quickly & chooses good options instinctively.
What's he going to be like with 50 games under his belt?
He could be anything.

I loved the mark where his body was curled as he flew in front of the pack, coming from nowhere as if to take what belonged to him.

That was the highlight of the game for me, a kid launching himself at the footy because he thinks he can take it and then finishing it off.

It's also great to see him involved when the ball hits the ground. All of a sudden he doesn't look lost at all.

That fend off and snap early in the first term was brilliant too even though a Carlton defender got in the way of his snap. I initially thought it was Pendles such was the class he showed in that moment.

This is Fly's influence showing through - it always happens a bit and especially for the stars - but with fly it's about being a family and supporting each other.

I’ll keep saying it. Kid just “has it”.

Totally different type but it was like when you first saw Pendles play. You just nodded your head and thought 'Yep this kid is going to be fun to watch'.

You can tell he just wants to own the big moments. His ability to hold his positioning in the air for his marks is elite.

I’m tipping De koning at Geelong gets it. He has been outstanding all year. Ollie’s will come at some stsfe
Good call. Unfortunately!

Edit: I haven't seen a lot of Geelong lately, and didn't see Saturday's game, but young De Koning does look impressive, so if he's been playing as well all year (as he apparently did then) it's fair enough that he gets nominated. Our boy can get the nod next week!

Marking in front of the pack coming from the side was the highlight for me as well.

Reminds me of something a certain Richmond No 4 from the late 60s and early 70s made it into an art form.

If he can emulate it would be fantastic.

I missed out totally on all the depression when Henry had that bad day with his kicking. Sure, I saw it but it was one game and it was a kid who has been with the club for 18 months and 20 games. The people who consigned him to the rubbish bin, must have given up talking about the browns years ago. If they're the benchmark, Ollie has another 4 years to show something...oops he's done that already.

Yes there was a bit of Royce Hart in that mark - just drifting across the front of the pack.
