That gather of the pill and lovely handpass in the second term was exquisite. It's so exciting to see he has a ground level game as well as his aerial skill.
“That boy Oliver Henry who’s form in the last few weeks has just been on an upward curve – when I watched is under 18 tape, this is what you hoped he would be,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
“I know in (Nathan Buckley’s) first year, he was too raw and you can tell me if you played him too early or not, but he is doing now what he was doing in his last year of under 18 footy.
“So when you see that and you see that it’s transferable to the absolute elite, then you’ve got a player on your hands.
“He’s put three games together. The first one he just missed every shot he kicked. He had six shots in the first quarter in a half and was dropped off the back of it.
“When you watch him jump at the footy, he’s honest in the air. Some players don’t like it, he is genuinely honest in the air.”
Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley added that Henry’s talent was evident immediately, saying the club tried to get as many games as they could into him early on.
“We played him probably seven games out of the first 11 last year and he probably only earned two or three of those and he was dropped two or three times,” he said.
“We could see the talent and what he could do on the track, and he’s been dropped this year as well.
“That shows the resilience of the kid to say ‘okay, come up – not at the level. Come up – not at the level.
“Then he’s put two games together, kicked seven goals in two games, and he played very well last week.”
He did a number of really good things - that handball to De Goey & the pass to Ginni being just 2 examples.Just wrote this on twitter;
But watching the replay, one of the things that stood out to me was when De Goey kicked his goal at the start of the 2nd quarter, it was from a contest//handball from Ollie.. And once the goal was kicked, they all went over to him. You could be mistaken into thinking he was the one that kicked it. But love how much support they are showing him. It's only helping his confidence.
That fend off and snap early in the first term was brilliant too even though a Carlton defender got in the way of his snap. I initially thought it was Pendles such was the class he showed in that moment.He did a number of really good things - that handball to De Goey & the pass to Ginni being just 2 examples.
He thinks quickly & chooses good options instinctively.
What's he going to be like with 50 games under his belt?
He could be anything.
This is Fly's influence showing through - it always happens a bit and especially for the stars - but with fly it's about being a family and supporting each other.Just wrote this on twitter;

I’ll keep saying it. Kid just “has it”.
He certainly has the potential.We will talk about this kid in the same breath as Greening, Carmen, Daicos, Buckley and Pendlebury.
Good call. Unfortunately!I’m tipping De koning at Geelong gets it. He has been outstanding all year. Ollie’s will come at some stsfe
Who is this guy, talking about Oli's speed! I thought he was slow, at least that is the sentiment of some BF posters!It's a great article about how Ollie got to Collingwood.
Really interesting read, that article. It just demonstrates to me that the draft can be a lottery, but I'm so excited that the cards fell our way and our recruiters had the foresight to select Ollie.It's a great article about how Ollie got to Collingwood.
Marking in front of the pack coming from the side was the highlight for me as well.I loved the mark where his body was curled as he flew in front of the pack, coming from nowhere as if to take what belonged to him.
That was the highlight of the game for me, a kid launching himself at the footy because he thinks he can take it and then finishing it off.
It's also great to see him involved when the ball hits the ground. All of a sudden he doesn't look lost at all.
Yes there was a bit of Royce Hart in that mark - just drifting across the front of the pack.Marking in front of the pack coming from the side was the highlight for me as well.
Reminds me of something a certain Richmond No 4 from the late 60s and early 70s made it into an art form.
If he can emulate it would be fantastic.
I was thinking John Coleman...Yes there was a bit of Royce Hart in that mark - just drifting across the front of the pack.
