Geezus BF.

No one has confirmed that Ollie is homesick.

No one has confirmed he wants out. There is some ‘noise’ around JDG and Grundy, but not Henry.

He hasn’t signed his contract renewal because he probably has a sensible manager who advises to wait until the season ends.

He hasn’t cemented his place in the side because he needs to work on aspects of his game.

He knows this, the club knows this, and there’s no reason to believe he wants - or will - go to Geelong.

He’s a supremely talented youngster whom the club wants to keep. As far as we know, or can anticipate, we will keep him.

So you're saying he is gone....

You neglected the most important point... he would be living in Geelong. Geelong!!

you don't leave Collingwood when Collingwood are up and about, especially to go play country footy on a cow paddock
We lost Nick Davis at the end of 2002 after almost stealing a premiership. Was go home factor similar to Henry although I feel that shouldnt affect Henry that much.
But you are generally correct. We havent lost too many we wanted to keep over the last 20 years.

McStay a lock?? Sounds like we're heading back to the old Quinton Lynch days.
Why would we lock in a guy barely able to get a kick in Queensland?

Stick with the development of the kids. I have no idea why we'd recruit and play McStay in preference to such promising kids.
Such a dud. Yet he's been a permanent fixture in a flag contenders line up for 3 or 4 years. He would play a role. He doesn't have to be a star. I'm so tired of the negativity around this rumour.

I just spent 5 minutes boning up on McStay via a 2021 highlight reel. At least 5 of his marks or goals came from McLuggage's work further up field. What a great combination, the essence of both coming and going residing in their respective names.

McStay is 27 and the rumoured deal is for 5 years at $600000 a year. The money doesn't concern me as much as the time span of the contract. He's a solid enough bloke with a decent set of hands. My dislike of his name probably accounts for 30-40% of my reluctance to pick him up as a FA. To be honest, I have never taken much notice of him or Brisbane.

If De Goey leaves as a free agent and the first round pick we gain for him is to be lost by acquiring McStay, I wouldn't be so keen on the big man heading our way.

I think his versatility would be most welcome.

There is a lot of sense in your post but there is a case to be made that Geelong is the other club in the AFL he would be interested in playing with. I'll assume no one here knows what Ollie thinks so its all speculation. Dont think it really matters that he says he was happy at the club. I am sure Danger and Cameron were happy also.

Geelong has
1. His brother
2. His family
3. The surfcoast
4. The lifestyle
5. The need for young forwards
6. A history of stability and success

We dont have 1-4 so the aim will be to make sure what we have to offer outweighs what we dont. No real use ignoring it. Geelong will have attractions to Ollie that the other 16 clubs dont. I would think the club will be hyperaware of this

Lifestyle?
Have you been to Geelong?

Oh, and Geelong haven’t won a flag in quite some time.

Yeah. Whole area and surfcoast is attractive to me. Point is Geelong does pose a unique risk when it comes to Ollie.

I lived in Geelong for a couple of years servicing a contract.

It's a hole with no redeeming features.
A hole with no redeeming features? Hyperbole much

Nothing like hyperbole.

Firstly as you haven't mentioned living there I assume you have no direct personal experience to speak of but are speaking as an armchair, sometime tourist.

Secondly it is a cunis town - by that I mean neither one thing or the other.

Too big to enjoy the benefits of a rural community.

Too small to have the advantages of a capital city.

Thirdly it's attitude to it's neighbouring settlements is predatory.

Fourthly it's attitude to Melbourne is chip on shoulder.

The shipwreck coast is rightly renowned for it's scenic splendour.

A shame about the gateway.
