That’s a push him out the door offer. A guy of Henry’s ability will back themselves in to be a $600k player by year 3 of that deal. I’d say 2 x $400k with incentives is about right. Currently slight overs on the basis that he’s in and out of the best 22, but in 23-24 he’s a permanent fixture of the best 22, ready to explode and it’s high enough that any other interested clubs are throwing silly money around to bring him in.
There aren’t any guarantees he’ll be a permanent fixture in 23-24. It looks like we’re recruiting McStay, Johnson’s shown a bit whilst also guys like Reef and Kreuger come back injuries. There’s going to be allot of competition for his spot and I predict he’ll be another in and out player if he stays.

I disagree. They wont need to play him as a key forward, but he has more talent than anyone in that forward line. Just needs another pre season to get stronger.
The stronger he gets the more he can impact the contest.

You don’t say? If I am Ollie’s manager I might almost be thinking that “kid, if you are getting dropped from the Pies’ forward line, it might be harder to hold a spot at the Cats”.

I hear that all clubs are instructing all their players to make themselves available to Geelong during the trade period.
Geelong have been invited to take their pick and the AFL will increase the list and cap to suit Geelong's choices.
But, only for Geelong.
Compensation to the "feeder" clubs developing players for Geelong selection (the rest of the AFL) will be in the form of 5th and 6th round picks, if they eventuate after Geelong has all live picks in the first and second rounds and North Melbourne have the first 5 picks in the 3rd round, unless of course Geelong desire to take a player once selected.

Henry getting stronger and fitter will help him be more useful but Johnson and Reef will also be getting stronger and fitter. He could still cement a spot it’s just not guaranteed. He won’t need to be played as a key forward anymore but that also means he’ll be targeted less and I think both Reef and AJ offer more when not marking the footy.

He’s an absolute lock. Just needs time and patience.

He'll be resigned if he wants to stay.
We won't be shopping him around.

He's shown enough to be retained, all he needs is some more time to develop his confidence, which will address the issue of going missing in games.

Just because we have other options, doesn't mean they'll be better options long term

Reef wont end up as a forward, he'll be a mid-forward. And Henry and Johnson ideally wont be competing for the same role, given their height difference and Henry has the longer term future given there is 5 years difference between the two.

Not only that, Mihocek Elliott cox and WHE all need to be replaced in a year or three. jdg might not be here next year.

I am not sure why there is so much negativity regarding the young man.
He is young, has shown plenty.
He is erratic form wise?
Holy crap...really!
Shit that has never happened before.

So according to t he "experts" the two types of players who take the longest to mature are .....?

He has sticky hands, great timing & X-factor. He just needs more development to be a matchwinner.
Come on, Ollie! Sign! We want you to win matches for US!

On talent he’s better than any of his competition and what’s currently having him as our 23rd to 25th player is his ability to get to contests. He’s one pre-season from cracking that nut and with two he could he anything.

It looks like Reef will have to bide his time up forward for the next couple of years before getting large midfield minutes and I doubt he’ll push out anyone in the midfield group so I think his more chance for a forward role but his potential to rotate through the midfield gives him an edge against the other forwards.

Ash and Henry will be in direct competition unless one of them moves to the backline as McStay will come in and be lock. Atm they both competing for the undersized key forward role and when McStay comes in they’ll be competing in the next role down along with Reef. I’d argue there more chance of us fitting Henry and Johnson in the same side this season rather than next unless one them change position. And the height difference between Ash and Ollie doesn’t matter they both have the same ground level presence what Ash has is he’s quicker and more willing to apply pressure.

He has a certain class his competition don’t have I don’t disagree there, I just think his competition have more well rounded games and are more suited to McRae’s style. Henry is Collingwood 2018 era style player.

Reef, Johnson, McStay and Kreuger having more well rounded games is a huge claim! Of that group only McStay might as it stands and even then Henry is already trumping his output. IMO, the progression in Henry’s game is pretty clear and he’s still a chance of hitting 30 goals this year. For a guy being asked to play the way he is at his age that’s significant.

I only think Reef and Johnson have better rounded games not Kreuger or McStay but the latter isn’t relevant because he’ll be a lock and not competition and it will be up to the rest to adapt around his specialised game style.

Henry’s class around the goals is great my issue is he’s not offering anything else.

ATM he is helping the tackler catch him, he isn't even looking to evade he wants to be tackled to draw high frees.

All of a sudden he changes angles, looks to give off quick or goes for a goal himself. Becomes much harder to tackle like they do currently.

Yep, this. He's making the choice to take the tackle as he sees it as his best chance. He now has been forced to look at alternative courses of action which fits Fly's comments that he's missed some opportunity over the last couple of weeks.

Yes…dish it off to a player going past…bang!
His goal assists may be about to increase.
