Don't get me started

No ruckman, no forward line. The guy has no clue.

Just got that from the first page. Apparently said by Mike Sheahan. How wrong is he now.

Well about the forward line, half right about the ruckmen although if Moran was there he'd be wrong.

Seems pretty fair treeman, Moran was basically a 2nd ruck so i'm not sure he'd cover it for us (still a weakness) and i dont think even the most optimistic crows supporter would have dreamed knights and hentschel to have played as well as they have. Tippett has improved a heap as well.

There were about 3 games before Moran got injured where he really shon. He worked hard around the ground and was really intense at the ball as well as gaining a lot of advantage for our mids. When he's fit an firing he'll be our 1R next year with Maric as support.

watch some of the old sturt and norwood games from the mid 70s:)
that is the crows running game of today :)
run and handball through the lines !
S A state games were also the same
sorry bit off topic:confused:

I reckon you are right.

Watch the last goal in this one (from 4:40) - I think it's Neil Craig's idea of a perfect goal:

Actually, watch the whole clip. It's worth it for the Jumbo Prince's manly air punch :D

Yeah what i was getting at with Moran is that if he continued throughout the year with getting injured developing like he was i'd imagine he'd be an awesome first ruck by now.

That's a great goal! actually, good to see the great man kick a few, Heard all about RD from my olds, but never seen a clip :thumbsu:

It is very reminiscent at times of hockey and seeing that Craig admires Ric Charlesworth, you could also make those links to that game style with the run and weave out of defence.

It was reported in 2005 when we were flying that Neil Craig used Hockey for parts or the basis for our game plan, sorry no link because it was too long ago but it is still vivid in my memory.

maric was still the lead ruck from my memory.

Moran was the lead ruck, Maric started on the bench.

Having said that, by their last two games together they were working on a 50:50 game time split.

Moran played his TOG exclusively against the oppostions 1R while Maric tended to play about half his time against their 1R (opposition lead ruckmen usually played around 75% TOG in ruck) while the other half of his rucking was against the 2R...so as you can see Moran was clearly 1R at the time of his injury.

hmm i think i remember you now, are the guy who did the ruck analysis? Still even if thats right 5 good games before his injury isnt really enough to classify him as a lead ruck able to fill this weakness of ours, which was mike's original concern about us.

Moran is our best ruck around the ground.

He is our best ruck in the center ball ups (not including Griffin).

Maric is our best ruck at ball ins and throw ups.

Moran has the best foot skills of them all and best running capacity

Maric an Jim have more agro, though Moran gets his mad face on when running laps at training!

Moran
Maric
Sellar
McKernan

WALL-e

Griffin

btw great summary of our rucks, though i wouldn't be surprised to McKernan move up that list by the end of next season. Also, while Maric is recognised as the ball-up and throw-in specialist i would say Moran was getting excellent results in this area prior to injury; was really starting to use his body to good effect.

The ball ups and throw in ruck work come with age as it really a strength based contest. That why Ivan goes well and Moran was improving. Jim will get better at that with age.

Agree re Smack. I really don't know where he'll play? Wing, CHF, CHB, Ruck, I don't know. But he could be an awesome 2nd ruck / everywhere player.

And I do think I'd dominate Griff at throw ins ;)

Interesting, I was saying to my kids tonight that the Crows offensive gameplan was just like watching Sturt in the 70's. Particularly the relentless run through the corridor. No coincidence Craig's associations with Oatey and Nunan.

On topic, wouldn't it be nice if one of these shows remembered they were national and added some more specific and insightful non Victorian content.

It took 40 minutes before the crows even got mentioned on One Week at a Time.... and it was about the Crows runner. Then a few minutes on our match, was thinking with only 4 matches we might get a bit more of a mention.

Whats the bet if we beat the Pies this week they will still talk more about the Pies.

It'll definetely be about the break. And how having 2 days less lost it for them.

And then also who underperformed etc etc.

A Lynch is on the couch tonight as a replacement to Hird, it may be interesting as Lynch is Tippett's Manager and may be quizzed about Tippett's future

Gushed about us for ..gee , a WHOLE 90 seconds tonight :thumbsu:
Most of that included our 8 day break...funny , NOT ONE WORD last week about our 6 day break

QUARTERS - " Yeah , Adelaide were good...how about CHRIS JUDD !!!!! "
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If that is true about him being his manager then based on what I have just seen you can just about take it as read that Kurt Tippett will not be going anywhere.

Talked about Dangerfield - wearing no 32, a bit Roo-like.
Tippet - Lynch talked about success at the Crows might keep him at Adelaide
Gerard likes us, Sheehan says we haven't beaten anyone yet. Thought we had an easy win on Saturday. Surprised (again!) that we have a forward line.
They gushed about Andrew McLeod and his improvement from round 17 on - his longevity in the game, his decision making etc.,
Loved Lynch on the couch - get rid of James Hird (was he so embarrassed about his association with Essendon that he didn't show?)
Healey and Lynch actually tried to talk about Brisbane and Adelaide but Sheehan seemed intent on dragging it all back to Victorian teams.
