Setterfield is why the trade for Hopper is a good one. Pick 5 and has nowhere lived up to expectations

Carlton give up a second rounder and some change to get him and then three years later he’s traded again for basically nothing

GWS sent Setterfield to the Blues for a 2nd round pick that GWS used to select Jake Riccardi. The blues sure know how to waste young talent.

They absolutely do not rate him now. Basically sent him to the bombers for a packet of chips

It would be a bit off putting for JHF to have 20 odd North supporters booing him every time he gets the ball
gonna be funny as when he ends up shite or a role player

Some goods point made here

Karen Cornes slams giving TT a 7-year deal … he’s 24yo and will be 31yo in the final year of his contract. He’s won a B&F in a GF team. He’s an absolute model citizen off field with great leadership qualities. He’s an established star player who Richmond desperately needs on approx $5m over 7-years.

JHF has played 17 mostly average games. Has shown glimpses of elite ability but too early to tell where his ability will get him as a player. Has proven to be petulant and selfish. Has questionable character. Port offer this 17-gamer a 6-year deal on around $4.2m (1 x $200k and 5 x $800k). Karen says “all good, he’s only young and will still be playing when 24yo”.

What a crock. Name me an elite midfielder who is retired by 31yo which is what TT will be? None.

The hypocrisy of supporting a huge deal for an unproven 19yo and not for a proven 24yo is mind boggling.

The issue with JHF is not the length of the deal, it’s the money. He’s not the first highly talented player to burst out of the blocks. Try these players on for size:

- Sydney Stack (after 10 games was second favourite for the rising star… barely seen since). Imagine we gave him a $4m contract.

- Nick Cox. Looked like being anything before form and injuries stymied his development. Will
still be a very good player, but $4m as a 19yo?

- Matt Rowell. 3 x BOG’s in first 3 games. Injuries slowed him and now appears a plodder … may get back to his best, but may also end up a B grade mid.

  • Harley Bennell
  • Stephenson : won the rising star with 40 goals and looked like could be anything … Pies gave him a $500k/season deal … imagine it was $800k…
  • Thilthorpe : a pick-2 with 5 goals on debut and 16 goals in his first 8 games. 10 goals in his next 17 games.

Anyway…. JHF will ‘probably’ be a gun. But making that assessment based on his 17 games thus far and committing $4.2m is not something Karen should be supportive of given his massive criticism of long-term deals in the past.

Hyp…o…..crite

It's fun to hate on Karen but there is very little risk giving jhf 6 years / 4m imho. Even if he's shown some plodder like signs

karens brain is oxygen starved,i wouldnt take an ounce notice of what spews outta that oafs mouth, heard that comparison of his btwn TT & JHF
JHF is F*d,he has shown to all and sundry he has absolutely no class,no more to see hear cos hes revealed it all & that will be his downfall for the rest of his career, take it to the bank

Had a bit of a chuckle around the grounds after we just traded in Hopper.

Quick run down:

Carlton: Hopper is a 25 yo in a 29 yo's body. Getting GWS players is dodgy trading as they are never as good once they leave GWS
Geelong: Richmond have sold our future for midfielders when we should have been looking at our backline
Hawks: Getting Hopper & Taranto is the same as when they got Mitchell & JOM

:tearsofjoy: :thumbsu:

ahaha rendell on trade radio said coaches after making the eight for the first time delve into tactics the following season and it backfires then said well in hirds case
