Can anyone recommend an eatery in the Adelaide CBD worth going too?
Staying in a spa:eek:suite Saturday night to blow off the cobwebs....

Not real fussed on the price range but nothing too extravagant plz:D

'North' at the sky city casino is very good and $20 – 25 for a main meal

The Oxford bistro on O’Connell Street is nice as well. $15 – 20 for a main meal ($60 for 3 course meal)

mick - WTF ????

c'mon you can do heaps better than that !!!!!!!!!!

walk down rundle street - depends what your looking for really, I like Scuzzi pizza's and they are good value, otherwise Rigonis (just off hindley street - on that privatley owned street) is a great pasta restraunt. And of course you cannot go past the Earl of Aberdeen (The Cooopers Ale House !) great pub and great food (Whitmore square)

you can also cruise down gouger for your choice of Asian/sub continent food :thumbsu:

IIRC Citrus on Hutt is good stuff, and something across the road too. Forgot the name but I think it's across the street from the Havelock or maybe 1 block closer to the city. Forgot name, great food though.

LOL maybe The Oxford Bistro was a bit poor but I really liked North at the Sky City Casino.

I enjoyed Gengus Khan (Mongolian) in Tranmere and the Pride of India down the bay and have heard good things about Jolleys Boathouse Restaurant (across from the Adelaide Oval)

Chianti, that's what I was thinking of. Think you need to book though.

I went to the Hyde Park Tavern for a meal the other week and it was disgraceful, the best part of the meal was the bottle of wine.

Food was under cooked and over priced.

The Grange is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Australia.
not cheap, but for a seriously good meal...

SOHO on Melbourne St is pretty interesting. the food is a modern french, but there are no tables, just romantic booths. I've been thinking of booking one for Macca & C98 :)

The Manse on tynte is fantastic also.

Auge on Grote is tip top quality italian also. very modern style.

If wine is important, and you're looking for a more traditional romantic setting, try Chloes just off Dequetteville Tce.

Definately the best in Adelaide. Havent eaten enough in other states to comment but its an excellent place.

If you want great food and great wine. Alphutte is a good choice. Bit pricey.

Amalfi's if you want excellent pizza and pasta.

The Fish cafe's on Gouger St are great.

Gaucho's if you want good steaks.

I've heard good things about Auge

but I thought he wanted it cheap :D

nah, not the way I read it...

define too extravagant?

some would say a place like L'Arpege in Paris is good value. the food, not including wine is between 320 & 400 euro each!!

XO Supper Club is supposed to be pretty handy innit? Prices look pretty reasonable.

Dude that place dead set sucks!!!!

Been there once and never again. Its the most boring restaurant in Adelaide. I was out of there quicker than a bullett. The food was OK though.

I guess its just not my cup of tea.

Oh and Capitalist, you are spot on about Scuzzi pizzas. Best in Adelaide IMHO.

good point

go up to Windy Point then - the view is good but the food is questionable

actually I have the winner - On Port Road near the entertainment centre there is an argentine stake house it is bloody fantastic - expensive but fantastic :thumbsu:

Agree with these. Alphutte is a nice place, but I always think a bit expensive for what it is.

I have eaten in many, many of the great places around the world, and in my opinion, the Grange is one of the 10 best places on the planet.

you need special female company to really enjoy it - and that is obviously what TopJars has in mind ;)

it is one of the best wine lists in Australia too.

The old Norberto's. I think its now just called 'Argentinian Bar & Grill'.

If youre going along Port rd, then 100 metres further down is one of my favourites - Enzo's.

Im still spewing Cibo got bought out by the guy that runs Citrus and the Observatory. Cibo was in my opinion probably the 2nd best behind the Grange. Its now called 10 Cucina e Bar. Still modern Italian but with a twist apparently. Its next on my list of restaurants to go to.
