Or from a business perspective, getting the maximum benefit from the investment made over the last decade.
Or, cushioning the club against the inevitable inflationary impacts that are being felt worldwide.

FMD!!!!! Talk about milking the Cow 💵🐄

The people who go to those things don’t pay for it out of their own pocket. It comes out of their corporate expense account. And whilst $1.5K is getting up there for a business lunch, there are plenty of well healed CFC supporters who would find this well within reach.

As proof of this - look at what time it’s on: lunchtime on a Tuesday. Normal people are usually busy doing their normal jobs at that time.

Happen to agree with both responses. Just not for the lay member and below I’d say.

Aka read the room in this economic environment? Especially $ to watch a replay.

But getting back to corporate world and those that can afford it can understand the club shaking its money makers again.

Though thinking most on here couldn’t get the scratch for it.

The real thing that people who pay $1500 for a club lunch are getting is the opportunity to hang out with other people who can afford $1500 for a lunch.

Good idea by the club to maximise the opportunities to generate revenue for stuff like this. This subsidises events and content for the rest of us (eg: The GF livestream at Olympic Park would cost the club $$$, Post GF family day would have cost the club $$$, The cup tour costs $$$, media department costs $$$, management of the media dept costs $$$).

Everything the club earns gets reinvested back somehow. Ed always said that the 2010 Premiership essentially paid for the New Glasshouse. Whenever you go to any club function, and you see a bunch of people working for the club wearing their Collingwood polos - those people are getting paid. Payroll isn’t cheap - especially in the current economic environment.

If people are willing to pay, get those cheque books books out and fill the Collingwood coffers.

What is a cheque book?

Is that like a bankcard or a passbook?

(Fun fact: CommBank still have a passbook service - it’s not publicized or widely known, but it’s a legacy service they provide for the old school folks)

Absolutely correct! Don't cry becuase you may not be able to afford it and suggest that it shouldn't happen - with references to a working-class past. See the event for the opportunity that it is - one that will provide a mechanism to provide the services for a greater number down the line. The market will determine whether the pricing is too great but I will guess that the event will be fully subscribed.

Back in the olden days we had these books that passed as money, you could just write whatever number you wanted and you got stuff.

Some were made of paper, the bad ones were made of rubber.

My dear old dad has a passbook account - to update it you have to take the physical book to a branch.
And no online statements - it's a pain in the arse.

I know Kane Corn has touched on it briefly, but I wonder how much more he’ll talk about it now that Rozee’s signed a long-term contract
