Just wait - if they have an ok start to the year, they will compare that to their terrible start last year and conclude they are flag certainties. I am all for it. Build them up early.

Vossy's rah-rah approach only resonates for about half a season. Expecting they start hot in 2024 and the knives are out again once they miss the finals

Likely that Fly has reasonable insight into Vossy's thinking style - even if they haven't coached together he will have a fair idea of what makes MV tick.

I dunno if it’s just my hatred of Carlton and I can’t think straight, but I have Carlton going backwards.

All well and good for Carlton to have these team meeting and being open and honest with each but a leopard doesn’t change its spots and I think once the shine of the new Carlton wore off they regressed to earlier season form.

Which in itself is a reflection of Voss and himself as a coach.

I’d be very suprised if Carlton reach anywhere near the level they did last year.

there is hype building around the club - who have long been considered a sleeping giant due to their total lack of success this century.

”If they’re not winning the premiership this year, something has gone wrong.”

………or something has just gone normal, never stop Carlton just be yourselves.

I love how Carlton thinks being a half decent side for three months for the first time in 25 years makes them a Premiership team in the making.

They have no idea what success looks like in the modern era. The top clubs are always calm and composed despite consistently contending (i.e. Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood) because they appreciate the difficulty and hard work required to get there.

I don’t think they even need to train, that’s how in the bag it is.

the bigger their heads, the louder they pop.

Just saw a Fox headline stating that the Blues have suffered an early-season injury blow. Whilst I was fully expecting the article to say Jack Silvagni's injury wasn't so bad, it turns out Weitering has a high grade calf strain.

Sam McClure delivered a Red Head's Jinx.

Didn’t he have one already? Has he re-injured?

Sounds like it is taking a while to come good?

My recollection was that he was immediately in doubt for round 1, so he wouldn’t have been very far along in his recovery by Feb 8th. Calves are not to be trifled with, as you are no doubt aware!

...I just don't see the 'stars' in this side, that a few rave on about. The only player I'd take is probably Curnow.
I think that's a bridge too far. Cerra, Kennedy, Cripps, Docherty, Walsh all pretty good players and then they have a pretty good 2nd-tier set of role-players as well. We'd absolutely have had any of those named players in our side and they would perform well.

It aint the players themselves I can't stand, it's the club and the supporter base. Actually... wait... no I absolutely can't stand Owies, Motlop and Curnow. OK maybe yeah I do hate the players as well.

A bloke got thrown out of Dookie Ag college in the 70’s after getting caught trifling with calves.

Pretty good players aren't stars imo.

And no, I wouldn't get excited about any of those players.

Hate the club, supporters and don't think they have a side packed with stars.
What are you on about? Have you not watched this 3-hour action packed documentary about how 2023 was the year of Carlton?

The rebirth? They lost a prelim for * sake. This is getting beyond a joke this circle jerking of these B grade minnows.

No, no, you’ve got it all wrong.

Haven’t you noticed that the whole friggen’ AFL industry are pumping up Carlton’s expectations to a level that can’t be met?

It’s a classic troll move.

Losing a prelim is their biggest achievement in the last decade. That is a fact.

Personally I’d rank their two wooden spoons as their biggest achievement in the last decade, but hey, each to their own.
