02 Maggies were not fragile mentally. What evidence is there of that. Losing the gf. Getting into a whole other thing if losing makes you fragile mentally. That team was tough, went to Port Adelaide without buckley and won the qf. Pushed ions who were a super super side the while way.

2018 Maggie's were not fragile mentally. I was nothing but proud of that side who smashed richmond in the preliminary. A free kick to Maynard in the gf and it would have sewed it up.
I was proud too but that 18 side but we were mentally weak

I have held onto that notion for decades and 2018 was my breaking point. It was an absolute template of previous grand final losses decades earlier. Get out to a four or five goal break early and get run down as the game progresses.

This happened in 70, 77, 79, 81 and 18.
By that logic why not include everything we achieved before 1958 (13 flags)

It’s only some of our supporters who are fragile mentally. Not this team.

Or West Coast elite huge forwards were simply to much for the Pies smaller defenders. They couldn't be stopped and it was a direct plan to get those 2 towers kick goals that got them the lead... the interference on Maynard not being called is also a huge heart breaker... if it was the way around, it would have been called for sure.

It's scary when a first year player is best on ground though. We have an amazing list but Brissy has more quality than us, it's going to take everything we have to beat them, if we make the GF
Go through both lists and rank the class

To be fair, the MCG was full of a lot more love for Carlton winning than what it was for GWS winning.
And GWS has won more finals in 6 years than Carlton has in 15 years. Carlton prob just played their GF and celebrated like it.

Not nearly enough is said about how short the Gabba is—have a look at the distance from the square to the 50. It’s actually only 1m shorter than the SCG (which seems to cop a lot of flak for being small).

Really helps Brisbane’s long kicking.
Yes it’s actually barely larger than the SCG.

Maybe why they struggle on a real ground.

Exactly, too many supporters sounding like Carlton supporters and being overconfident. We still need to win one more game to make the GF. Don't get ahead of yourselves, please.
Unlike Carlton supporters, our confidence is more realistic, given we’re already in the last 4 standing.
Mind you, prefer we keep a lid on it for now. Get the job done first that’s ahead of us. Then we can take the lid off and enjoy grand final week!

I keep reading that Brisbane don't play the MCG well and checked the dimensions of the ovals:

Gabba 166 metre x 148 metres playing surface
MCG 171 x 146 metres, from fence to fence. The boundary line measures five metres from the fence.

If one deduct 5 metres it makes the MCG 166 x 142 therefore narrower than Gabba? What is the issue?

It's mental.

Depends what source you refer to.

This one has the MCG 3m wider and 800m2 more space.

Uh huh.

So yes, the different sources cite different figures.
I must admit I wouldn't have guessed that the distance between the fence and boundary line was 5 metres, looks less.

They dont get Sweet Caroline played after their goals.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It’s cringeworthy!!
Yeah, i'm not a fan, on the TV it sounds so loud, I can't imagine what it would sound like at the ground.

If we play them again this year, maybe we should play it backwards after our goals, it might deduct one of their goals off them.
Kadina Park is

Its a Qlnd family crowd thing. I thought it was cringe initially but when the whole crowd was singing country road the other night I thought fair enough. Sounds like theyre having a ball. They do the Frozen song and I bet you it brings kids in through the gates.
Apparently it's the goal kickers favourite song, the Frozen song gets played after Danihers goals, maybe he has a daughter or son, at least i hope.

Different conditions usually, crowd is a different animal, & mentally it seems to be a bit of a hurdle. The Gabba is shorter, which suits their fwd line and it’s love of sneaking out the back
