Ralph just said on On the Couch that senior Melbourne people are blaming the the Maynard Brayshaw incident for derailing their season.
Bunch of whingers who can’t accept their own failings.

Would strongly hope that Collingwood doesn't externalise misfortune, and that they wouldn't accept it as an excuse if offered.

Airlines price gouging Carlton flogs flying up (and back) to watch their s**t team get reamed this Saturday pleases me greatly
If you see a Carlton flog in the street wearing the colours ask them if they are going to the game; follow it up with how disenchanted you are about how expensive preliminary final tickets are at the MCG!

Yes we picked Schache as sub and didn’t play him, didn’t pick Grundy, told Max Gawn to do the save of the century and taught Viney how to spud kick. Not to mention their ongoing choke at goals.
Yes we’ve been busy.

I’m disenchanted about paying $6 non refundable for GF ballot if we lose this week. Essentially all supporters in the ballot that’s part of the two losing sides this weekend lose $6. Ka-Ching Ticketek!

Maybe Melbourne Football Club & all their media minions should have not CREATED such a media circus regarding the Maynard/Brayshaw incident.

Jeeeezus, they've turned out to be a much bigger bunch of woe is me, sooky lala whingers than I thought they were. Chris Scott will be taking notes.
Imagine discussing footy with Goodwin and Chris Scott and all the moaning and excuses - I'd sooner a visit to the dentist for a root canal.

Says it all….
It's a strange stat for them because isn't Mark Choco Williams meant to be a master at teaching kicking efficiency & accuracy..

I'm sure at different stages since he's been there, Dee's had the highest goal kicking accuracy and credited Williams.

Pathetic if true. Couldn't imagine Fly letting that sort of losers mentality permeate through our great club.

I think there is too much emphasis placed on inside 50s without knowing how the ball enters the forward line.

This just proves they play a game of just booting it high into forward 50 rather than look for good options. Maybe their midfielders are just not that good under pressure?

If every club played the same way, they would increase their inside 50 count.

Not even Choco can stop the likes of Petracca from one-steppers 50+ out having a ping for goals. Too many of their players are hungry for the moment rather than being good teammates.

Defensive structures are much easier to coach and drill than attacking strategies. Cohesive attacking strategies are what separate the solid coaches from the really good ones. It's why guys like Bucks and Goodwin have teams that are immaculate defensively but shambolic offensively.

Agree, watching the game on Friday night I couldn't believe how disorganized the Dees were moving into F50 - they didn't seem to have a "save the game" plan.

To keep footy going during the off season, the AFL should get Hoyney and Chapmion Data to run an "Expected Score AFL Premiership Season" where they use AI to replay all the games from the regular season using the "Expected Score" system.

Have a finals series and everything

I’d rather watch tennis…

Dees just barely kick any goals from well drilled offence. It's just get it forward and hope that someone jags one from a solo act. Every team scores a lot of their goals that way, but the really well coached teams also get some from well drilled offensive strategy, be it Collingwood getting out the back with wave running or Brissy creating holes in a zone by changing the angles of their kicks.

You would just think if they recruited a bloke such as Williams to improve their kicking...kicking would not be one of the biggest issues.

I agree, they're selfish and a bunch of me me me's.

The d*ckheads have embraced a loser mentality

Barassi would have shoved a rocket eade up them
Goodwin making a big deal about expected score, to reinforce their bad luck and accordingly instill false hope that “playing their way”, was invulnerable, demonstrated the depth of his delusion.
Losing exactly the same way against Carlton just reinforced the folly of stubborn belief in their game plan.

It’s a complete misuse of statistics. Melbourne’s ‘expected score’ shouldn’t be an average of kicking accuracy league wide, it should come from an average of Melbourne’s own kicking accuracy. And clearly theirs is below league average because of their poor kicking skills.

Put another way to reach the same amount of points Melbourne needs more scoring shots and more inside 50s than other teams. So they pump it i50 at all costs with extremely long kicks from their mids. If one game was a statistical anomaly then they’d have a point but both their finals and the Kings bday game shows that it’s part of their gameplan (this is from memory I’m sure it’s been a thing all season).

The fact that the coach is publicly backing the plan (they ‘dominated the game’ against us according to Goodwin which is nonsense except the last quarter) shows pure stubbornness in the face of data.
