I'm gonna support this new Gold Coast team instead of Brisbane. That is if they keep the jumper and logo newly introduced which they will because the board directors will never in a million years go back and realize they made a mistake.

It's just too painful to look at that jumper and logo especially when you think about old times. I'm a Brisbane based supporter so it's not to do with Fitzroy, I disliked the red away jumper.

The new logo is enough to make any Lions supporter saddened to even see it.

Why do people feel the need to announce they are going to support another club. It reeks of attention seeking. Are we meant to beg you to stay?

Just start posting on their board... that's your first step.

That's what you'd like to think being a Brisbane supporter :), just adding to the fire. Everyone hates the logo, why should people put up with it.

Then you stick around and try and exercise your voice as a member by holding the administration to account.

Jumping ship to another club is the equivalent of a toddler throwing its rattle out the play pen because mummy wouldn't let them have a biscuit.

I hate the new logo and have done my bit to fight it, but I rank turncoat glory chasers even lower.

Not quite, when you support a football club, it doesn't matter how bad the team is playing. But when the identity and soul of the club is ripped away and replaced by a cartoon paste it's not the same.

Doesn't seem like the Brisbane board care what the members think, covertly designing then just releasing the new brand without any consultation with them. If they give the members a vote or realize that a large majority of the supporters hate it then your argument would make sense.

But they aren't going to do that, and the only way to get it through to them is by lack of support and membership.

Interesting that you didn't jump ship last year when the logo was announced and that you are doing it now when we are suffering our worst on-field performance since 1998. Just a coincidence I'm sure.

Your argument re: identify doesn't hold either. You claim the Lions have abandoned their identity, yet you are jumping to a club which has no Brisbane Lions identity whatsoever. ???

There are heaps of people here who have argued against the logo much morre passionately than you, and they are sticking fast.

Administrations are temporary, but the club goes on. Real love for a club isn't so easily transferrable.

The prevailing image you depart with is of a glory chaser, sorry but that is the way it looks. No one around here is going to feel like shedding a tear for someone who joined up last week and suddenly expects us to care that they are leaving.

Good luck at the "Suns".

Can you think of a club which has Brisbane Lions identity whatsoever? More than that of the counterpart QLD team for a Queenslander to support? Didn't jump ship last year because it's the only Queensland team.

That people stay and continue supporting them shows that they're willing to deal with it. There's no denying that the Lions identity has been ripped away and been replaced by something that makes even the kids it's targeted at cringe.

It's not like the Suns are going to have instant success within it's first few seasons.

AFL are doing everything in their power to make it happen. If I was chasing glory, Gold Coast would be my first choice.

Anyway, I think it's time you live up to your pledge. Don't drag out the inevitable. Change your club in your user profile and get postin' on the GC17 board. :thumbsu:

Link for your convenience.

Well, that's good for you guys, if you don't take action then nothing will happen.

According to your BigFooty profile to the left there you're still one of "us" so good for you too mate.

I'm going out on a limb to say that whatboutbob and I have done more to fight the new logo/jumper than yourself.

When you've done something real (and jumping clubs and advertising it on BigFooty doesn't count), then you can give lessons.

Ahh but has the deadline of next season's beginning passed yet? I think not.

Shows the shallow nature of your "support" that it can just be turned on or off at a certain date.

I have serious doubt that you are a financial member, and as such, you shan't be missed, by us, or by the administration than you think you are sending a message to.

No further correspondance will be entered into... to save me the effort, just picture me laughing heartily at each post you make from now on.

Do you think that the Brisbane Lions board read online forum protests or your take your emails seriously? Not renewing memebership or going to games goes further. If others do it, and make the message clear to them, it will have an effect.

By sticking with them you are ensuring that it stays.

So anyway, glory chasers aside... does anyone know if it officially been stated that all Lions vs Suns games will be played at the Gabba, regardless of who the home team is?

If so, will the Lions be able to include the 12th game in membership packages or will Gold Coast members get first crack at seats (including ours)?

Michael Bowers doesn't listen to people that haven't parted with $400+. You toss your membership, you toss your voice. That's your choice. As TBD said, if you genuinely give half a shit about the club, do something to take it back for it's real owners, we the members. If you don't feel the club is partly yours, then maybe the Suns are for you.

I find it ironic that some of the people on this site who make posts complaining about others tearing strips off of one another often also have a history of provoking and engaging in such activities themselves.

Yep. I once said that I didn't have a problem with updating the jumper, and you tore me off a strip!

I've grown ambivalent to it all these days. Love the club, couldn't give a toss about the jumper... but I know plenty of others get passionate about it.

Firstly, I am not the one complaining about people supposedly tearing strips off one another. Secondly, I was actually thinking more about the time when you vilified Fitzroy supporters and Victorian-based Brisbane Lions supporters by calling us "old farts", amongst other things.

It seems you only object to such vilification if you think you're on the receiving end, but you'll happily dish it out yourself. Do you only complain about it when you feel that you've been outpointed in a discussion?

Perhaps if you refrain from contributing on the topic then you won't have to worry about it at all. Unfortunately, as you don't seem to comment much on any other topic on this forum that would probably be quite limiting for you.

Id be keeping a list of all the turncoats as they reveal themselves.

All so far have either been people who have just joined or people who havent posted in years.

Either way... Tomohawk_Pride goes on the list.

I am pretty sure it was part of the deal the AFL did with the QLD Government to get them to put more money into Carrara. I also thought the deal was that the Gold Coast were going to play a couple of other games at the GABBA each year against the largest drawing club's (like Collingwood).

(I did a search and found the deal I was talking about
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...etener-for-gabba/story-e6frf9kf-1111115907467 )

For the Gold Coast home games at the GABBA, I would assume Gold Coast would have first dibs on seats, unless they do some deal with the Lions to allow it to be included in a 12 game membership.

It was actually the Gold Coast home jumper in particular that has similar colours to both Fitzroy and the Bears last jumpers (and I would argue to the Brisbane Lions current and past jumpers).

Take a look at the images below and see what you think:
