The way Cornes is really hammering home the Collingwood doomsdaying makes me think he’s heard there’s a good chance we’re getting Houston

Between the Perryman shit talking and now the “cliff is coming” stuff when we were mentioned in the Houston dealings, it feels like he knows something and is super salty about it
Pies getting old is the one of the most popular and easy things for the media to bring up about us.

Close games
Father sons advantage
Getting old

Yep. He's having a full on panic attack. Love it.

Let’s see.

Richmond went from Premiers in 2020 to Wooden Spooners in 2024.

We won the Premiership in 2023, so let’s see where we’re at in the 2027 season.
You've got your timeframes out, as Cornes did with Richmond.

We might be shit in 2027, but if we are it won't be because of who we're adding now. The likelihood of the draftees we're forgoing from 2024 and 2025 offering more in 2027 than the experienced guys we've brought in and are trying to bring in is really slim. What we're trying to do will make us better for the next 5 years. Just like bringing in Tarranto for the tiges - they'd most likely be a worse list in the immediate term if they'd taken those picks to the draft.

It's about 2029 onwards that we might start paying for what we're doing now. But what we're doing now will most likely improve us over the next 5 years.

I’ve never understood, if every team gets a 10% discount when matching picks, why don’t they just make the initial formula 10% less?
The discount has an impact because the 10% comes off the value of the pick you're matching, but the picks you're using to match aren't discounted.

You might be able to re-scale the whole curve to get the same effect without calling it a discount - the maths of that is beyond me.

I liked how he referred to Perryman as a fringe player at the Giants. Perryman has played 43 senior games just in the past two seasons 🤣🤣.
I'm sure Korn would be speaking differently about Perryman had he joined Port....

Magpies are obviously cashing their checks for the next 5 years. They don't want to draft 17 or 18 year olds and have them ready in 2027 or 2028. They seriously think they have a window to win another flag or two and they will take it.

If it crashes down, then they have players they can offload or they can 'tank' in 2027 and get a high pick to re-plan and rebuild.

The commentators think Pies are too old and should be rebuilding, but Pies don't think so. They missed out on the finals due to a poor start, wasting games (draws), a shocking July and injuries to a third of the premiership players. They tend to ignore all of those things.

Houston improves us significantly and replaces Noble.

We are in our window, we are going for another flag.

I couldn't give a rats ass about our list in 2-3 years if we get another flag.

We are here to win them.

Your "Oh i don't want to be Richmond" reeks of loser mentality. Gotta risk it for it.

Richmond won 3 flags in four years, yep, I’d happily take that.

Peolpe have been telling Geelong that they are too old for years and they've managed to keep themselves right up there. They've spent a fair few 1st round picks topping up. It can be done. If it netts another flag, its worth it.

It's the culture of a winning team. Never bottom out... at least intentionally.

Swans, Cats and Pies have been successful and have proven in the last 15 years or so that teams don't have to bottom out for any longer than 2 or so years. All 3 teams have bounced back from bottom 8 to top 8 within a few years and when they do finish in the 8 all 3 teams have either won a premiership or made GFs. It's the culture. It applies to every personnel, from the janitors, chiropractors, water boys/girls, accountants etc. Winning is an attitude.

People in the media and the public (myself included) have been saying Geelong would fall off a cliff eventually for a decade now, for doing exactly what we’re doing right now. Continually topping up and not relying primarily on the draft to bring in quality.

They’re now lauded for it but if we try it we’re playing a dangerous game. It’s actually weird.

There goes Kane again..

Wondering how we're the front runner for Houston lol

Maaaaaaaan he's salty
He is saying now if we don’t win the flag in 2025 our strategy has failed.
Makes it hard for him to lose this argument
Have always wondered why he never praises Fly as a coach. Maybe goes back to their playing days ?

Not listening.... was it a genuine how, or genuine why?

I'm expecting him to really rally together our Collingwood-supporting "don't trade another first rounder" brigade this week.
