not angry.Time for everyone to be angry with me again
Weideman?
I agree on taking both. With our 3 picks in the 50s (I know they will come in), I think it would be a shrewd move to take both Membrey and Tomlinson. That scenario fills lots of gaps in the short term and gives us some time to develop/trade/recruit for the future.
Really hope Houston is our dedicated kick-in takerI agree on taking both.
Membrey can play with our main forwards (with Cox rucking from the bench),, or allow Mihocek or Elliott some managed weeks - excellent addition.
And, although no star, Tomlinson gives you a different option than Frampton or Dean, depending on the opposition. I think Billy is fine on certain opponents, but Moore needs to take more of the gun forwards with Howe the 'floater'
(BTW, Darce, let someone else take the kick ins when possible please, bud).
Yeah 60m to Nick.Really hope Houston is our dedicated kick-in taker
As much as I like his nameTime for everyone to be angry with me again

Funny enough Membrey has kicked more goals (293 (179games) in less games than Elliott (287 (194 games), and done so while playing for a very defensive club who struggle to score with a win rate of 48%. I also prefer Elliott, but given that Elliott (and others) are increasingly getting banged up, I reckon Membrey is a really great get .....very surprised StKilda is letting it happen. He also gives our Forward line a variation (third tall) which will make defending more difficult against our smalls (Hill/Elliott/Schultz/McCreery) with him being added as part of that rotation within game.He is undersized (188cm).
I would much prefer a big power forward that can also play in the ruck when required. I was imagining a tall forward around 200cm. We were looking to replace McStay/Checkers when they are injured.
At least with Hayes, (only 194cm) you could see improvement on his previous output due to age and bad run with injuries.
Membrey I view as a poor man's Elliott or WHE.

Agree with you.
The problem with Frampton is that he can only play deep - he gets lost if higher up the ground and then he can only play on certain players, so he's in trouble if teams don't have a player that plays deep and that he's suited to play on.
Or we get a defender in the draft.
It was clear by Leppa's words they only were going with 1 position for experience.
Maybe happy with Dean and Frampton. Maybe we turn Reef into a defender. Who knows.
Or if we go with tomlinson. in the rookie draft if we bypass our last pick
Reckon he will be our kickerinererReally hope Houston is our dedicated kick-in taker
But the problem for him is that they like a settled defence rather than one that chops and changes a lot for the opponent.I definitely agree that Frampton should only be playing when we play sides with 2 key forwards
They may choose to wait until our 50’s picks have moved into the 40’s, and then trade one out for a future pick to help with McGuane, simultaneously giving us a list spot for Tomlinson in the rookie draft.
Assuming I haven’t got my wires crossed and cocked it up completely.

What a dullard. [Edit: Ralph, not Jen]
"That decision might not be so stark if ... so many rivals had not chosen this moment to stock up on picks in one of the best drafts since the famed 2001 mega-draft."
Every trade has 2 sides. For everyone trading in there was someone trading out.
Then he names rivals like:
Richmond (full rebuild - hardly a short term rival)
Port (he should check out the Port bigfooty view of their trades! They hardly stocked up & it wasn't exactly by choice that they traded Houston)
Carlton (who are praying pick 3 is someone who could open their window -- like a Naicos -- & not another Paddy Dow)
Without looking closely, I don't recall contenders like Gee, Freo, Haw stocking up...
Even if they move one or 2 out to next year, we may still use 3 picks in the draft.Need to upgrade a rookie then. You need to add 3 players to your senior list to qualify with the afl draft rules if im not mistaken.

Membrey is our much older, much cheaper Logan Morris.
I think they'll be open to trading out, trading up, taking 2 or taking 3 and it'll dpend on who is on the board at our picks and what we get offered to trade out. I don't think we'd commit to only taking 2 now. Thus I think Tomlinson will go somewhere else if he gets an offer. That’s true but we could upgrade a rookie at whatever our next pick in the draft would be… yes? So we could still trade out a 40s/50s pick for a future pick if we found a willing live trading partner, and upgrade a rookie with pick 90 or whatever.
Really hope Houston is our dedicated kick-in taker
