He can always request a trade to the Pies again a year later. He has wanted to go to Collingwood for ages… inside knowledge (I have).
I suspect he stays put if he can’t get to the Pies.
It’s a Mexican stand-off.

If we delisted them to re-rookie and another club picks them up would we still have their salary on our books? The original comment was to move them to the rookie list and that process is to first delist them and second redraft them in the rookie draft. None of that requires the permission of Macrae or Johnson nor does paying them out which is another option which I don’t think will come to pass unfortunately.
It may not be so simple to appease him.I'm actually thinking he will eventually remain at Melbourne. They will do what is required to appease Trac, otherwise this will be an utter disaster for their brand and like Houston has done already, see potential receuits abort any idea of joining Melbourne .....
We’d be free of their salaries. No clubs picking them up in that scenario though. They either find homes during trade week or we retain them in some capacity. If we delisted them to re-rookie and another club picks them up would we still have their salary on our books?
He only attracts that kind of salary because he plays at the Gold Coast and they have to pay overs to keep players from returning home. He wouldn't be paid that if he were at a Victorian club.In what world Is Lukosious worth a million a year
oh dear. That game was as soft a game of footy as you will ever see.
then we have 7 senior spots at present as we could always just put them on the rookie list with no obligation to pay them if another team takes themWe’d be free of their salaries. No clubs picking them up in that scenario though. They either find homes during trade week or we retain them in some capacity.

good angle, tell him he has mental health issues and it's all in his head.
Get the desire for another youngster.....just don't think Hobbs or Davies are it.I agree to a certain extent. Still room for another youngster in the rotation in addition to Allan IMO.
Pendles will need to spend more time outside the centre square next year.
For sure. But that would be assuming that Petracca is the bad actor in this. Maybe it’s all on the MFC. Maybe he’s had a complete gutful of what’s rotten there and he’s sick of all the lip service he’s been given about how the club will fix it. It may have been a long time coming and now, he just wants out.True, l guess the one positive for them is that they have 6 weeks to try and get things done. In saying that how much do you let a sole player dictate what the club should do or not do?
failMore along the lines of working the angle that things might get better as he gets fitter.
Good try though. You’ll get me soon.

Could Petracca not play at all next year. Take 12 months off to get himself right, physically and mentally?
No thanks.Personally it’s trading away our future for 3 years of elite Petracca.
Maybe it’s enough to grab another premiership. But it’s a massive risk.
You had me until Beau.Just a thought, and one that may work is
Houston to Saints
King To Melbourne
Trac to Pies
Beau to Port
And then add in all of the picks needed, our future first would be enough, and Port would need more than just Beau.
Not sure Saints want to lose King given they have little options to replace him.
I think it might tend up a multi club deal, and we may have to rejig some contracts to back end them until our senior players retire.
Melbourne needs a Key forward, and Houston is going to the Saints by all reports. The pieces are there, lets see what unfolds.
And also, no way is Allan getting traded, he will be a huge win for us and will come good.
I often wonder if players and clubs conspire on this.Barass is physically shot - his back is stuffed.
So the opposite of a salary dump. With all of Richmond's players leaving who are they going to spend their cap on anyway?
I would have thought it would be the other way. The higher the draft pick the less salary the new club pays.
The Petracca/Collingwood Brand would make up for it laterAnd leave ~$1.2 million on the table? That’s a lot of dough.

I don’t care how much mail you have, Allan becoming a superstar is not guaranteed, and those other 3 are young best 22 players who are already regarded as a genuine part of our future.Allan will be a superstar and I have some mail on him, has overcome a lot of injury and next year will make his move. To get a trade done will require us to give up some value.
I fully agree with you on Allan. However, why couldn't the trade for Petracca be something like:
Gold Coast -> give pick 20 for Noble.
Melbourne -> get pick 20 + COLL F1 + Allan
Collingwood -> get Petracca.
Roast me if this is not doable and why Melbourne wouldn't accept it.
It's long been the bigfooty way. Reserve players with good attributes are unlimited blue sky. Senior players of the same age are finished products with no scope for improvement - nowhere near the potential of the bloke who isn't as good as them yet.You listed 3 best 22 players under 25 that are expendable but a 2 gamer is off limits because he’s part of our future?
Bizarre take.
You’re late to the party. Already a no go on Luko because GC want a first rounder for him (good luck lol)Not sure we are even interested in Lukosious but I think his up and down form probably has a bit to do with Gold Coast’s flaky up and down form so wouldn’t discount him purely on that basis.
