PIES SET TO PIP POWER FOR PERRYMAN

Collingwood believes it is in the box seat to secure childhood Pies fan Harry Perryman as the Giants face the prospect of losing two academy players and a true Western Sydney graduate in coming weeks.

GWS halfback Perryman is likely to decide mid-next week about his new club as a free agent, with the Giants still hanging on to hope he might re-sign.

But powerful presentations and long-term deals as long as seven years at Port Adelaide and the Pies are making it a compelling pitch for the 25-year-old.

The Pies are increasingly confident they have made a case that Perryman can play multiple positions, including midfield, to a player who is pigeonholed as a halfback at the Giants.

Perryman also hit it off with Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, but the long-term Port Adelaide coach might not be at the Power past 2025.
Given those offers have hit $850,000 it is extraordinary money for a player whose only top three result in the best-and-fairest came when he finished third in 2020.

But Collingwood does not have a first-round pick so his free agency status at a club about to lose John Noble to Gold Coast is hugely appealing.

Perryman is a Giants academy member as was Isaac Cumming, who has already left for Adelaide as an unrestricted free agent.

In-form utility James Peatling was taken in the 2021 mid-season draft after being one of the rare AFL players to come out of western Sydney, and has six AFL suitors chasing him.

The Giants are hoping he is just assessing his options before recommitting on a three-year deal but the intense interest in Perryman means he is considering departing.

Collingwood also has Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies as its preferred candidate to become its new football boss.
The new agreement for i think 2025-26 for the salary cap offsets a lot of Perrymans deal.

Very smart by Pies to get in early. Perryman on ball is another bigger body in there to help Nick.

Also very close friends with Matt Kennedy.

The article stated that with the arrival of Barrass and Battle, Maginness and Serong, despite being contracted next year, could seek more game time elsewhere following interest from some clubs. Ditto for Ned Reeves

Let's get maginness to improve Nick's chances of winning the Brownlow. Then play him in the ressies.

Is Serong worth pursuing? I know nothing about him

I'd suggest that he's an aerial player. Despite his height, he plays as a tall and has followed a pretty standard progression of a good tall. Played early. Did some good things but not consistently before becoming consistent about 5+ years in. Wasn't he playing defence with Melbourne the year we recruited him?
I think he was swung back and forward in his last two seasons at Melbourne. And possibly played more defence in 2014 where kicked 5 goals in 22 games as opposed to 2015’s 10 goals in 22 games.

I remember being a fan of the recruitment if we intended to play him down back but underwhelmed that we intended to play him up forward. Quite happy we gave up on him as a forward after 3 or 4 games.

I tend to agree with Apex that the general mug punter wasn’t predicting his turnaround but also agree with you that the traits where there to see for those who were looking. Similar to Josh Daicos where his earlier years games count didn’t suggest he’s an AA midfielder whilst the the traits he had did.

I know nothing of him. Had to look him up. 193cm. Drafted as a forward but won the Hawks Reserves B+F this year playing back. Reportedly a very good mark and leap. Has played 10 games in 3 years. Played in the final against Port.

Im not great at picking them. I didn't think josh would make it, but it was more than just traits with Howe, he was having wow moments at AFL level regularly. He was clearly a big talent.

KPP can be a bit of a slow burn ? Can't be too shit to win Box Hills bnf?
As I mentioned earlier I know nothing of him. His draft profile reads well. I went onto the Hawks BF page. I read the last 30 comments. They were all complimentary (did not think that was possible on BF). Said he was a stand out at CHB. Would win their reserves B+F (which he did). Believed he shows promise and will make it and hope he stays despite the arrival of Barass and Battle. Someone stated move him back to HF to play the Gunston role.

Stop with the tough talk, Houston is contracted and Port are under no obligation to trade him for anything less than their own asking price. There’s a reason why Carlton and Norf are the front runners, and it’s because they have the trade capital to get a deal done, which will likely be significant overs.
You must of missed the IF in my sentence. Also, that’s not tough talk, that’s what we’ve got to offer.

There's a good write up on him on Rookie Me Central in his under 18's year. Lacks pace and ground ball getting ability
They always talk kids up so much that I tend the look for the negatives - undersized tall who lacks pace. Although I thought the same about Murphy. Didn't think he would get close. He'll need to be pretty outstanding above the shoulders.

No, I didn’t miss the IF. Even IF he chose us, Port wouldn’t have to accept any offer we make, even if it’s all we’ve got (and it’s not even close to what we’d have to work with fwiw).
We don’t satisfy them, they don't trade with us. With a player under contract, that’s the way it is.
