Where are we finding the cap space for Perryman big deal and Houston?

We didn’t lose anyone significant really. What am I missing?

Have the veterans been given pay cuts for this, likely final year for them?

Treloar still going until next year isn’t it? Grundy next year too?
We have a war chest of nearly 6mil in cap space coming up according to reports earlier in the year, probably not an even spread across years

If we do get dev robertson as well, think it's curtains for one of long or bytel. Sully will be needed as depth for inside mids.
The rumours have been that it's curtains for Long regardless, and Bytel might not be far behind.

I don't think Sullivan is safe either. I think Perryman makes the midfield mix much more versatile in terms of having an inside/outside mix, so we don't necessarily need to carry guys just to be the backup for Mitchell should he miss time again - We can just use Perryman in that role if need be.

They probably structured the contracts in such a way that they will probably peak in the years after we lose pendles,Sidebottom, howe, checkers, cox, elliot.

Let’s not forget our payments for Treloar and Grundy drop off next season and I think the one after?

Yeah thinking there must need to be some backdating in these deals. Less next year more the year after. The war chest, I thought, was largely based on the big name veterans expected to retire this year and next. None did this year

Agree Houston is a gun. But I think you are underestimating the importance of JFN to our game style. And Richards was developing very nicely. Players don't need to be AA calibre to be super important to a team
No, but they are replaceable. If Markov’s form didn’t drop off, he could have played his role just like Noble played his. Richard’s is still an unknown. He is only a couple of years younger than Houston. The fact is 2x AA (and importantly the last 2 years) done become available very often. So if you have the opportunity to grab one, you need to. I would gladly pay a 1st pick 13 and an unknown 25 yr old with some potential who is still breaking into the team, and a half back (who incidentally is older) who is limited but a hard worker.

We can tell it’s done if there’s no reports of the 3 clubs involved pivoting and doing something crazy.
If it’s quite on that front there’s no need to panic, it will get done.
Crossing the Final I’d and T’s

I’ve said on here so many times that I am our resident BF cougar now, but we are the best looking team by a mile! Lots of our boys are good looking lads
Dev will fit right in
We lost a good rooster in Johnny though

Well argued

You seem to be missing more than just something if you think this is a bad deal for us.
Particularly from where we started. Noble requesting a trade and Richards looking like he wanted out - they're the level of player you nearly always lose on as they don't command good picks, so it's just a speculative shot at replacing them.

Yeah but before then it was hamstring issues and a calf.
You find the older players get the more injuries they get.
Some do. Not all.

If Checkers could actually get a year with some help down there, I'm sure that would take some pressure off his tree trunks legs 🤣

And I think we all agree, they may have brought Checkers back a tad early due to desperation with our injury list.

Our last two seasons of injuries woes (yes even 2023 that most people forget about), does not instil much confidence in our medicos really

To be fair most of our injuries have been freak accident type stuff

Very few have been continual niggles and soft tissue injuries

The only one truly mismanaged was De Goey
