So with Rory Atkins being part of the deal, that would have held up the progress as l'm sure he would have required some thinking time, yet we never heard anything about Atkins in the media.
Just shows these jurno's had no real idea of what was going on behind the scenes, and alot of the doom and gloom about us in this trade was just "a lot of smoke and shadows behind the windows.”, as big T Cloke would say....
I'm sure the media love sending panic through all the Collingwood members and supporters, and they definitely achieved that with me!!
Cannot wait to see the footage of Houston walking into Collingwood and wearing that magnificent guernsey for the first time!!!.....🖤🤍🖤🤍

Then we needed a targeted strategy that fixed the issues on our list: some more quality in the midfield to support Nick Daicos and some more quality in the key positions where we have Billy and Dean struggling to hold KPD

I'm sceptical that two half back flankers will address these issues.
We have gone some way to addressing "midfield" (I'd rather say runners) issues, even if Houston and Perryman both play defence. It releases one or two mids to play mid rather than half back or wing (I actually think Perryman will be one of those).

Key position isn't a major weakness in our 22, more a problem of depth. With Tomlinson and Hayes, looks like we're making some effort there. Key position is more of a problem in a 2-3 years time.

Similar with KPP our mid issue was more with unavailability than the list. Adding two quality runners who can play midfield helps us with shuffling efforts when injuries crop up.

Next season we can trade 2 years into the future.
SDK is one player we should be monitoring for out of contract next season.

If we can bring in via the free agent market next season Ed Richards and or LDU that would be huge too

In theory we should have the cap space required to pry 2-3 RFAs out of other clubs

Our targets should definitely be LDU, Richards and a key back

Agree. Midfield was a big issue during our bad moments in 2024 - seemed far too shallow

Wasn’t he in their losing 2023 GF team? So saw us up close on the biggest stage. Perfectly understandable that he’d want to be part of it.

Seemingly Robertson also wasn’t put off by the boos a couple of years ago when he was strutting around with his jumper torn off.

My guess would be that Ratkins is what opened up #29. So Ratkins + #29 was a salary dump.

This is a bit interesting. They aren't totally sure richards is incuded, though you'd think so

All saying its a win for each club.

They need to tell the Port supporters that….,

Am I missing something? How is Noble, Richards and a future first for just Houston a good deal? Essentially two early teens picks and Richards for just Houston sounds bad to me.
You seem to be missing more than just something if you think this is a bad deal for us.

I thought Damo said that Houston will get to Carlton. Honestly, what a flog that bloke is. What's his actual ****ing job
Imo he said that because he wanted a reaction from viewers as he worked for afl.com.au and is on trade radio so basically did it for the clicks and listeners today. An absolute lying knob and weasel but that’s what we’d expect from these journos to get a reaction out of us.

Agree - it’s all about flexibility and Fly now has 2 new magnets that enable existing players to move into new roles - Crisp as permanent mid, JD to wing even IQ to the midfield.
And these new magnets can also be played in more than one position.
So overall team flexibility has been significantly enhanced.
