North Albury's best players get nowhere near $1000 a game, and there's no way Ben Jones is getting that....enjoy the sour grapes you moron.
Maybe he knows that raiders can't deliver the coin they're promising to all the "b" graders they've pick up so far.
Call me what you like - he has been offered $1,000 a game and Nth Alb haven't paid all their players from 2008 (ask Matt Murray, Brandon Ryan & Brad Horne). As for Raiders if they've only picked up 'B' graders I can't see how that would break the bank.

I don't know where you're getting your information from but it is simply incorrect. It is so easy to start or perpetuate rumours on threads such as these. "a bloke in a pub told me", "I heard from someone at the club", "my mate knows the nurse who was there when they removed the bottle from Jennifer Keyte".
Brandon Ryan & Brad Horn are friends of mine and have definitely been paid...in fact Ryan still may play with North this year. Matt Murray has also been paid, that's why he re-signed with the club. If a player loses his job it's hardly the fault of his football club, but when the "vultures" start offering large sums of money all of a sudden the grass is greener (or should I say red & bluer) on the other side. Where is all this raider money coming from? Is it actually there?
There is a global financial crisis, hardly the time to be promising a host of North Albury players (who by the way only finished one position above raiders) twice the money they're currently on. Isn't Stephen Clarke supposed to be an accountant?
My information is straight from the horses mouth - on all accounts. I'm not sure what your standing is at Nth Albury but I suggest you ask their coach exactly what he offered Ben Jones. As for Raiders - who cares - they've been down a while so good luck to them. Further, apart from Doolan I can't see anyone that would be offered any significant money.

hows is that ben jones fault! if true perhaps north needs to do its research recruiting players a bit better, and pay them accordingly,, good on him if he signed on for that, just shows the desperation of the hoppers i feel...
I agree with harry on this one, if Mr Jones is not putting in good performances, to a degree it is the coaching staff/ administration/ recruiting staff who would be getting a bit nervous about offering him that large wad of cash per game.
The question here is what is he worth ? And also agree that North are clutching at straws trying to get any signing. The money that is floating around sends a bad vibe to our young up and comers, it's the norm now to be putting yourself out there because even some lower footballers can attract big cash in minor leagues.
Yeah thats fair enough i suppose there is an arguement for both cases, i understand where ur coming from, but as soon as he put pen to paper there is a huge pressure he has put on himself, because if he doesnt perform he lets down his team mates, specially people like McDonald Horn Leslie etc, who are guns and play for no where near the amount he is on, have heart and play for the jumper...
North have really stuffed up here, specially seeing at Bright he only trained half a dozen times a season! I think North and the Coaching staff have just let down most of the players, im a passionate North supporter and regularly talk the players there, and some really deserve better then what they are getting!

You may well be correct about only training a few times at Bright, he looks nothing like the picture on the back of the Border Mail the other day, has put a few kilos on since that pic was taken.

Tav is a fairly smooth roller, great around the club and prepares himself better than an xmas turkey. Will go nicely at Yarra after having a solid season at Blackburn (EFL Div 1) last year who were a very good side.
While we are on the coin issue ie: wang etc... clearly wang have put out a fair bit of gold in the last two years and continue to, however no doubt that will be eclisped by Albury this year. Be interesting to see what pans out this season.

Looks like Myrtleford are doing it really tough - to be undecided about the clubs chances of playing in the 2009 season while nearing March would be unheard of at any other club.
Probably won't field reserves - and they have stated there's no point in being the "whipping boy" of the comp, which they have been for the last few season. I don't want to sound like I am bashing them, but realisticially this can't happen at OM level right? If they were to miss this season, surely they couldn't just go stright back in again in 2010? I do feel sorry for them, and it would be great if they were competitive, but maybe it is time for change. Its strange to see some OM clubs getting reportedly 70 -80 to training and others struggling to get over 25.
Raiders look to be improvers - lets see what they can do.

Would have had to improved a lot to be a regular senior player in a top five side.
Didn't set the world on fire at Yarra, but in saying that I am pretty sure Josh Frawley was at Pigeon-land at the same time and was the No.1 ruck and deservedly so.

Maybe he is and maybe he isn't worth that money but didn't his girlfriend/wife gave birth recently?
He might thinking of his family n providing for them so every little bit of cash helps and if North are willing to pay that much for him then good on him.
Just to correct you, He doesn't have any children yet. And I agree with you if Hoggy is willing to offer good money why knock it back. And I am sure Jonesy will put in 100% for the club.
