Jon won Wangs count for Hooper, followed by Daine Porter. Nath Thompson won the seconds award and i belive young Mulroorey (sp?) took out the 3rds.

Btw Its almost a shame Hargys moving on hes only just started to grow on me, Trippy might have to get in russell robinson to replace him

A great way to finish for Hopper, probably one of the best to ever grace the O &M. Stellar season also from the Big "Hoops" who was virtually one out all year against the best of the opposition tall timber.

Heard Smith & Hooper are keen but yet to commit at the Maggies. Both are waiting for Lappo's replacement to be announced before deciding.

Some of the best and fairest winners from the different clubs if people wanted to know

Andrew Hill took out Wangaratta Rovers’ best and fairest ahead of Daniel McLaughlin and Ross Hill.
Lachlan Raven won the Hawks’ reserves award, with Jedd Larkin named the thirds’ best.

Brad Horn and Matt McDonald tied for North Albury’s top honour ahead of Dan Leslie, while Chris Taylor was named the Hoppers’ reserves best and fairest. Charlie Graeber won the thirds’ top gong.
Horn and McDonald beating Leslie really surprised me.

Anyone know who won the Bulldogs best and fairest?

In other news Yarrawonga has lost Tim Hargreaves as he has played his last game for the Pigeons after taking up an offer to coach Mulwala in the Murray league next season.

Pretty sure Nick 'scoffa' O'Bryan has gone with him, and a few of the younger guys who were fringe players are considering it, as well. Massive recruit for Mulwala - he's still in terrific nick and played some awesome footy this year, so it's still going to take a gun backman to stop him next year..

i've heard similar. could be an announcement imminent apparently

What's the story with Matt Murray? Is he staying at Nth or going to Raiders next year? Surely after the cash the Raiders forked out for him you would have thought he repay the favour.

Who knows? but we'll be sure to read about it, at length, in the BMM when something happens. The whole drama got more media coverage than fevola!

Poor old Fev even got bumped from the front page of the Hun today!

Anyone know whats happening at Myrtleford? Theres constant talk of "a few things in the pipeline" but I've not heard a single name rumoured..??
Surely it's essential for them to make early inroads, or else...

From what I've heard they are focussing on Brad Murray returning, but my sources say he will stay over with Port Adelaide for another year.

It pains me to write such a post but could someone please verify if Albury are talking to and close to signing Brad Murray ? I hear that he is good friends with Andy Carey. But it would be a dark day for the competition if he joined the tigers...just my thoughts.

It would be a very dark day indeed, but unfortunately the days of town versus town have gone and it appears money speaks louder than representing your home club. How are small town clubs suppossed to compete with the inflated salaries that some of the bigger clubs can dish out?

Spoke to a source very close to Brad yesterday. Brad still very much undecided whether he returns home next season or stay in Adelaide so could go either way yet.

Also, I would not think Brad would play for anyone other than the Saints, they would love to have him home and would go deeper into debt to pay one of their favourite sons if thats what it took.

Having said that who knows what kind of $$ Jossy be throwing at him. If Albury are talking to him Im sure it would be a ridiculous sum of money

Big loss for Maggies if true. Lack of a another quality tall cost them dearly this year.
Will struggle badly unless their recruiting staff get busy.

How so true velvet like mytleford and us at c\r we have no money to entice some of the players to come here. Our seconds players are offered 60 or 100 to play out in hume and tallagatta leagues. And as long as MR JOSS stays around there will be only a few clubs that will survive. Then what the O & M do and i know a few players want to leave albury but they are employed by mr joss

Does anyone have a figure on how many actually work for Joss? You here lots of rumours and suggestions of numbers, but i'd be interested to actually know are more definitive answer. We might see that it is less than rumours suggest, or perhaps it's more than we even imagine!
I see there's a cricket team in the Hume/Rutherglen comp this year, simply known as Joss. I'd imagine it'll be filled with Joss employees and once again i'd assume that most of them wore yellow and black jumpers during footy season.

Not quite sure what the link is between your club losing players to the bush and Mr Joss. If players are going bush because Albury is to dominant i'd suggest they find a bit of ticker, and they're playing for the wrong reasons. Unfortunately not every club or country town has a successful businessman behind them, but if players from other clubs in the league aren't going to Albury and are simply leaving the O&M, then Jossy shouldn't take the rap for that.

As for players being employed by him, there is a considerable amount, probably more than some would think, but at the same time a know of a few that no longer play at Albury, but still work for Joss Constructions.

He has been able attract players to the club through employment opportunities no doubt, but it is by no means no play no work

My mate works there (and plays for Albury) he told me mid-season that he counted 27. Not sure if they are all still there but that was the case in June.
