"the fine amount reflects how much the club exceeded total player payments by"
Are they saying they paid a player more than $28k?
Wouldn’t $28k be 3 senior, senior players. That is the difference between 1st and 4th.

A premiership is a premiership. I know a couple of blokes that have taken a 6/8 week suspension, for knocking out the opposition’s gun, to win a premiership?

You have to wonder how Wang can assemble such a good team for so little money.
If Ankers, Reid, Moore and Newton were paid $1k each per game minimum last season then it wouldn’t leave much for the other 18 players over 18 rounds.

No - the article eludes to other players not being listed as receiving payments as well.
The combined total being 28k over cap

Weekly times article reporting that AFL believe / acknowledge it was an administration error , indicating not deliberate .
If that is truly the case it’s was missive fine / penalty for non-deliberate act . be interested to see how those who handed down the penalty would react if held to the same account .

Morningside in the QAFL having a big play for Ankers.Do finals games played count in the salary cap in O and M? It doesn’t up here in the QAFL.
Traditionally the salary cap is home and away games only and no payments are made for finals. If you can’t play in September purely for the love of the game then there’s a problem.

You still get presents from Santa don’t you.

Ahh Wang signing players to $0. What a group of selfless young men
Or Reserves players who only got paid for games played in the firsts who weren't on the original budgeted spreadsheet of "contracted " known payments

I still feel like there is a bigger issue to address here. If it was just an admin error all well and good. So someone got overplayed, doubly. I don’t know about you blokes but when I was getting payed I was well aware of when that money was going into my account and if a payment was missed. It was only 20 bucks but still.
Surely any decent bloke would put his hand up early and say hey I’ve been double payed, maybe young blokes don’t check their accounts

Would be nice to be in a position to notice being paid double. Pretty sure the penalty is double the breach amount of $14,000

Whispers around the water cooler this morning is that Rovers have parted ways with big ruck recruit Hughes. Something about him getting blind at the season launch on Sat night and making a c*ck of himself, including some alleged derogatory behaviour towards some of the netballers. Pretty firm statement from the club if true, and good on them I say. No place for that crap in today’s society
