Nuts that Sri Lanka in 2006 v South Africa didn't record anything higher then 765, given Sangakara and Jayawardene got a record 624 run partnership that day.

An England pair just put on 450 less than two hours ago and he’s batting with a guy averaging over 50 in test cricket 😂

Why should he just give up?

I'm not saying he should give up but he should play his natural game and attack the bowlers rather than trying to bat for a draw.

Thank **** the duck is broken, 34 long years of no England triple when nearly everyone has got one in the interim. Even Karun ****ing Nair.

England still the only team to post scores from the zero hundreds to the nine hundreds. Only the second eng test innings to contain two doubles, nearly the second in history to contain a single a double and a triple.

Pakistan are doing what the mighty foxes did after we handed a 400 to the public school boy.

Every test match involving Pakistan just feels like there's a bookie involved. Belted for 800 and now 5 fa nothing on a road

And it always will because of their reputation but as soon as you apply some scrutiny to what’s going on it becomes harder to see where the fix comes from.

1. If you’re going to get paid to lose, you don’t go out and make 550. Because it’s not something in your control to OVER perform. You can try your best, sure, but promising an illegal bookmaker an outcome and then falling 300 runs short of where you said you’d get to before doing it (ie. ‘get to a really high score, push the odds out and THEN lose) is too great a variable.

2. A flow on from #1. If you’re good enough to control how well you score runs in the first innings, why not get paid to spot fix and just get out for particular scores rather than fixing a result?

3. These situations look worse for Pakistan than they do for other teams that capitulate because they are better than other teams. The West Indies, Bangladesh, some versions of Sri Lanka before the improvement we’ve seen more recently - they fold just as terribly but it doesn’t look as stark because they lacked the quality to get as far into the game as Pakistan do. The Windies have almost made an art form of dragging themselves to a position around parity and then sinking like the titanic… Pakistan can actually dictate a game, then do the same thing so it looks even worse.

4. If you’re going to deliberately get out or get less than a certain amount of runs, particularly in a PERFECT scenario to bat for a draw where you’ve got every entitlement to not make any runs - even the dumbest batsmen surely wait until the spinners come on and then just leave, and play around a few balls aimed at their pads until one skids on. Much easier then having to be ingenious enough to deliberately edge one

The stigma will always be there because of things that have happened before and it’s simply never going to go away but there are so many reasons why it’s more than likely not playing any role in this sort of thing happening

no. you don't. your takes are just horrific. they reek of internet moron.

Root only 2 336 runs from 15, 000. Remarkable
He's a remarkable batsman. Only reason he isn't in the conversation as 1 of the best ever is his poor conversion rate of 50s to 100s. He's rectified that somewhat the past 2-3 years and cashing in alot more once he gets to 50. He's clearly gone past Smith and Kohli now who are regressing and really he's final frontier is to make consistent runs in Australia. He finally does that he will go down as a GOAT. Already is their greatest ever.

Pakistan are the biggest basket case in cricket by an absolute distance at the moment. And they have genuine crazies in charge so don't expect it to get better any time soon.

It's unfortunate that when Pakistan are losing this badly they get accused of match fixing but they are just a horribly flakey team.

As I speak they lose another wicket to Leach.

Yep just lost a series to an albeit improving Bangladesh side.

Just me of has Babar being terrible for a while? When he isn’t getting big runs this side is very skinny in batting depth

Sadly it’s true - my mob give them a run but our trajectory is - very, very, very, marginally upward, just, based on a few of the administrative things being done and a little bit of the dead wood that’s been cut adrift combined with some of the younger people beginning to appear and what’s been invested locally (financially and regarding decision making).

These guys should be a force. They’re all over the place

Dizzy Gillespie is in charge as their head coach, are you calling him crazy?
