I think even Masten clocks in at about 79kgs from memory though. Hill is listed as 68kgs, which means that even if his skill set is excellent, physically, he is going to be way, way off playing AFL football for quite a while.

Do we really need him to play next year though the team is strong and settled ..

So Brayshaw is a delist in your opinion, or do you see a place for him in another position?
The only position brayshaw could play is inside mid . Its the only position where his absolute slowness could be mitigated. He then would have to be such a dominant ball winner that our team structure could accommodate the liabilities he brings.

Look at priddis vs sam mitchell.

We carried priddis for 10 years and didnt win a flag having 4 years that we got close
2007 11 12 15 .
All priddis bought was ball winning and a defensive liability .

Mitchell who had the same ball winning and defensive liability had another string to his bow . Creative kicking and accuracy that bought others into the game.

This is the difference in a slow plodder being a liability and not and i dont think brayshaw has it

I cant get a accurate read on Jarrod Camerons likely position. Some say top 20. Some say rookie draft. Which one actually is it?

I was very impressed by Brayshaws draftee highlights package to the extent of thinking we may have drawn the best of them.I havnt seen much of Brayshaw at EP but he came into the season injured. He started to rack up the stats late in the season. He seems to be a strong grab;a recurring theme in our draftees;so it will be interesting to see how he goes with a full preseason. He reminds me a bit of Reddan and hes no speed machine.

I actually hope that we’re considering trading out of our picks for more future assets if we trade. With live trading, it is likely that teams targeting a player will be more inclined to ‘impulse buy’. In the NFL, a future year pick tends to be downgraded by a round in value. i.e. a future first for a current 2nd round pick. With the first pick on the second day, we’re in a great position to have a team stewing over a prospect overnight and extract a future first round pick.

Overall, I think we’re more likely to gain a premium for current assets and as reigning premier with a reasonably strong list, a current draft pick is less likely to contribute straight away, so deferring and compounding our assets makes sense.

It’s a bit less exciting. But that instinct for instant gratification is what is likely to create an inefficiency in the market place and allow us to gain a premium for current assets.
Wonder if Gold Coast are desperate for any players around 20..

But in all seriousness I agree with you with the increased value of current picks compared to future. I’d be trying to target either Geelong or Sydney in that scenario. Geelong especially seem to rate themselves pretty highly and might be tempted to bet against themselves thinking the first will be 15-18, when it’s got a real chance at being a top 10 pick.

Is H Brayshaw really as slow as Priddis and Mitchell?

How do we know?

Oh the irony if we swap pick 20 to Geelong for their 2020 first and then trade it back to them for Kelly next year.

Certainly did . Look at all the slow dominant inside mids in bolton priddis hayes . Lots of tackles due to being at the contest and in arms reach of the opposition inside mids . Either you get the ball or tackle the guy who does .

Priddis on the inside was very good defensively.

On the outside he was a defensive liability as he lacked the pace to contribute.

That's the reality and a fair statement.

No denying his ball winning one of the best there ever was but redden taking over this year was much more versitile .

Redden was not a liability on the outside and with his 5 clesrances and 5 tackles on the inside a game he also had 15 uncontested possessions including 5.5 marks .

Bloody good year from reddo
